He was?
How could he be a lot like someone who he was and wasn't?
"I...suppose I am?" Kirishima chuckles again.
"Not entirely, but close," Kirishima says, leaning against the counter. "You were always a sweetheart, when you actually liked the person."
Bakugou hummed.
"And I was an 'ass' the rest of the time?" Kirishima giggled and nodded.
Kirishima sighed and leaned his head against Bakugou.
"When we first met you were...difficult..." Kirishima recalls. "But you eventually warmed up to me."
"Did you...ever think about giving up on me?" Bakugou asked, his voice was a lot smaller than before. The blond's voice practically never got like this, but when it did, Kirishima knows to be delicate.
"No, never," Kirishima was being truthful. "You were a handful, but I have two hands," Kirishima raised his hands and wiggled his fingers, smiling brightly. Bakugou snorted, Kirishima giggled.
"Truthfully, your attitude drew me closer," the redhead glanced away. "I was always up for a challenge."
"And I was one?" Bakugou asked. Kirishima hummed and nodded.
"A tough one, but one I wasn't going to give up so easily," the redhead smiled triumphantly.
"What about me?" Bakugou asked. "How did I think of you?"
"Well" Kirishima began, "you at first saw me as any other person." Kirishima stepped away from Bakugou and leaned against the counter.
"Then you saw me as an ally, not really a friend but someone you stand by a lot."
"Then it turned to friends, to best friends, to crushes to-"
"Lovers?" Kirishima smiled and nodded. "I wouldn't have ever expected to be with you but, I'm so glad that I am."
The old me...
Bakugou's smile faded. Thankfully, Kurai came down the stairs, rubbing her tired eyes and sat at the table. Kirishima looked back at Bakugou, worry masking his face, but he went to go talk to Kurai instead.
--
"Hey, are you okay?" Kirishima asked, placing his hand on Bakugou's arm.
"Yeah, why?" Kirishima had pulled him into the kitchen and although Kurai is still able to be seen, the TV was loud enough to drown their conversation out.
"It's just, you seemed upset earlier," Kirishima took his hand back and crossed his arms.
"Oh, that..." he placed his hands on his hips.
"Was it something I said?" Kirishima asked, stepping closer.
Bakugou stayed silent.
"Y-you said that: you were so glad that we got together," Bakugou began. "But you mean when you were with, the old me..."
"Not how I am now."
They stayed silent for a bit.
"I'm sorry," Kirishima began. "I didn't mean to upset you-"
"No, I know you didn't," Bakugou interrupted. "I just-" the blond stopped and sighed.
