Bakugou struggled to fall asleep. He tossed and turned, but he was just so on edge. Why was he so afraid to sleep without the hearing aids?
He hated the idea of it but...should he wake him up? Is he awake? Would he be awake? He turned to read the clock. Twelve 'o' three. He sighed. He had to atleast check.
He tossed the blanket off of him and stepped on the ground. Silence. It put him on edge. He grabbed his hearing aids off the bedside table and quickly put them on. He crept towards the door and slowly opened it. Creeping across the hallway to the master bedroom. He reached for the handle before stopped and knocked quietly. Footsteps.
Kirishima opened the door.
"What are you doing up so late...or early?" Kirishima asked.
"I-...I could ask you the same thing," Bakugou stated. Kirishima sighed and laid his head on his hand.
"I-It's been hard to sleep without..." The redhead fell silent.
"I didn't feel safe sleeping without my hearing aids," Bakugou looked down in shame. He wasn't sure why he felt so ashamed, but he did.
A memory flashed before his eyes. It was night. Just like this. Kirishima younger and him in front of his door looking down in shame like he was at that moment.
He blinked to wipe the memory from his vision. The dorms. Why was that something he knew? What were "the dorms"?
"Do you...want to sleep next to me...again?" Kirishima asked. He was pulled out of thought as he nodded. The redhead stepped aside to let the blond in. Kirishima shut the door and walked towards the bed, laying down.
"Here, give me your hearing aids," Kirishima held out his hand. Bakugou took them off and gave them to him. Kirishima leaned over on the other side of the bed and opened a black box with and orange 'x' painted on it. He placed the hearing aids in small holes that fit them perfectly, a light turned on, glowing a bright red.
"Charging them," he stated, flipping the comforter in the air before getting underneath it. Bakugou lifted the side with free space for him and got underneath, laying down.
He felt a little better. But not entirely.
Another memory flashed before his eyes. It was night, the same night as the last one. They were laying down, just like this. Of course, a lot younger.
He blinked the memory away.
He was sure Kirishima was just... uncomfortable. He could understand. He's not his husband. At least...not anymore.
He closed his eyes to sleep as soon as Kirishima did. He passed out in minutes. That missing thing finally felt found, or halfway there.

The next morning he woke up first, and found himself closer to Kirishima than he remembered. The curtains were pulled away just slightly to make a sunny glow behind the redhead. A memory flashes, before his eyes again:
It looks to be only a few years ago. Kirishima's hair non-spiked like it had been, but it was unruly and wild. But he could still see the redhead's face; eyes closed but not asleep, a soft smile plastered on his face. Shirtless, but mostly buried under the covers. The sun making him glow just like now.
