Bakugou was ripping himself apart about yesterday. It caused him to not sleep for a while, making him in a bad mood. It was quite evident in his face, his parents barely noticed until they realized that he's been acting different due to his memory loss.
"You okay son?" Masaru asked, he always felt that it was useless to do so back when Katsuki was younger, as then he had known what was wrong. But right now? He looked like the grouchy baby he once was.
"Yeah, just tired," he rubbed at his exhausted eyes.
"Did you go see Kirishima?" Mitsuki asked. Bakugou nodded.
"Just yesterday I did."
"Good, idiot was worried sick about ya," she roughly placed her hand on his head than gently ruffled his hair.
"I wasn't sure if he really was, or if he should've been," Bakugou wasn't sure why he was confessing his thoughts now when he didn't feel to earlier, but the words were already leaving him before he could think more about it. It must be the exhaustion.
They both looked at him, an unreadable expression on their faces. But then, Mitsuki huffed.
"He loves you dipshit, of course he was worried about you," Mitsuki used a lot of fowl language, it was quite odd to hear her call him that when Mrs. Kirishima's referred to the redhead by his name.
He quickly brushed the thought of Kirishima out of his head. Whenever the redhead came to his mind the thought of what happened yesterday followed, and he didn't want to talk or even think about what happened yesterday.
"You did the same thing whenever he was injured as well," he was snapped out of his thoughts by Masaru's soft voice.
"Really?"
"Well, you were a bit more angry looking but everyone always knew that you were worried," Masaru explained. Mitsuki seemed to perk up at their conversation.
"Oh yeah," she chuckled. "I remember when you shook him by his shoulders for making you so worried."
"Before you hugged him," Masaru added, chuckling at the memory as well. Bakugou wasn't laughing. He wasn't sure why it was so humorous but he didn't disturb them by asking.
"Kirishima cares a lot," Masaru says fondly.
"Yeah," Mitsuki sighed. "He's a good man."
"So I've been reminded," Bakugou commented, a slight chuckle coming out in that statement.
"We always like to be reminded," Mitsuk smiled.
"Kirishima was the reason you started to improve yourself and with his help and support, I felt like it went a lot faster," Masaru explained, a pure smile being pulled on his face.
"Yeah, you always had this out look that you were perfect, and we won't lie when we say that we were quite influential on that," Mitsuki began. "But then, you met Kirishima."
"I remember you first talking about him, you always described him as being prefect, despite the fact that he wasn't the brightest," Masaru continues.
"Oh, and when you first brought him over, kept reminding me not to nag," Mitsuki rolled her eyes at this memory, he can tell though that there was great humor behind it.
The two went back and forth on stories about the two of them and Bakugou listened, it was a long conversation but it was a nice one, at least for the two talking. For Bakugou it was pleasant, but there was that guilt that he hadn't felt in weeks now. It wasn't the same though.
This guilt was taking him back to yesterday. He was so close to kissing him, his face flared up at the thought. But then he ruined it by stepping down on it. He covered his face with his hands and groaned quietly.
"Oh, you must be tired Katsuki, we have to be going anyways, hope you sleep well," Masaru said, getting up to leave as Mitsuki followed after she said her goodbye as well.
He's thankful they thought he was groaning from exhaustion rather than embarrassment. He didn't want to explain how he almost kissed Kirishima and backed out last second.
Was Kirishima thinking the same thing yesterday? Is he thinking about it now? Bakugou could only wonder.
From the stories Mitsuki and Masaru shared, it seemed like Bakugou would just predict things about the redhead, like how he mouthed the same word at the same time Kirishima said it.
He can't read Kirishima like he could before. Everything was still a mystery to him. Everyone was still a mystery to him.
He looked up at the ceiling, his mind trying to run away from Kirishima yet always find itself back to him. Was the redhead going to kiss him? Does Kirishima want that? Did he want that?
His mind didn't have to think too long in order to find an answer: yes. He does want Kirishima's lips upon his own, just the thought was making his cheeks red.
Should he go see him? No, no, the redhead probably wants some space. Maybe.
Should he go see him?
He huffed as he looked back down. He was alone, his quirk training having long since been over with. He turned his head towards the window. When did it get so dark out?
He let out a yawn. How long have his parents been here with him? The whole day? It didn't feel that long.
Maybe some good rest will allow him to think clearly. He shuffled down and underneath the stiff blanket and got ready for sleep. His parents brought him clothes but he was still wearing the hospital gown. He'll change in the morning.
He'll go see Kirishima tomorrow morning.
He fell asleep quickly and thankfully, didn't see anything while he slept.
--
The next morning arrived and, even though he didn't want to, he was ready to go see Kirishima. Though he had to go through quirk training first before he's allowed to go. He knew if he didn't go see Kirishima, he'd be really upset. Even if they have to bring up what happened two days ago, that was fine. At least he'll know Kirishima's stand point on it.
He opened the door to Kirishima's hospital room, the redhead's eyes on him.
"Hey," he mumbled, now the feeling to run being strong.
"Hey," Kirishima mumbled back, looking away.
"How have you been?" Bakugou asked, fully walking into the room, trying to make the urge to flee disappear.
"Good." Kirishima turned back towards him. "And you?"
"Good...I guess," Bakugou rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Um, about...what happened...the last time we saw each other..."
Kirishima looked like he didn't want to talk about it. But unfortunately, the need to. They both knew that they needed to get this done and over with in order to clear the tension in the air that laid thick between them. It was almost strangling Bakugou, like it too didn't want to talk about it and was trying to make sure Bakugou couldn't.
"If you want to forget it happened or something, I'm cool with that, I just-" Bakugou stopped as he wasn't really sure what to say. What can he say about what happened? Sorry I almost kissed you, would you like to forget about it?
Bakugou shook that thought out of his head. He doesn't want to think about what specifically happened right now.
Kirishima's reaction though was one he wasn't expecting. He looked disappointed.
"U-unless you don't want to! I'm not sure why you would but-" he rambles for a little, just trying to find some way to get a good response, though he wasn't sure what he was saying anymore.
"Katsuki," Bakugou stopped and looked at the one who said his name, Kirishima. The redhead sighed. "What were you going to do?"
"Huh?"
"If you didn't step back, what would you have done?" Kirishima asked. Bakugou's face turned red. Should he tell him the truth?
"I-I," Bakugou struggled to get it out. "I would've..." His face turned even redder.
"I would've...kissed you..."
