The very next day, Kali is in her office. She decided that she will take complicated cases at the hospital or when needed, so she can work in both aspects.
She's in the middle of reviewing a contract when someone barged into her cabin, followed by her worried secretary.
"Was knocking hard?" she asked without averting her eyes on the document.
"I'm sorry, Milady, but she-
"It's okay, Crista. Not all people know basic courtesy. You can go back to work," she dismissed her.
"The nerve of you to say that," the intruder said.
Kali smiled subtly. It wasn't visible because of her position. She put down the document and lifts her head, clasping her hands on top of the desk. She nodded at Crista to leave them when she found her still there.
She then sighed, "And you are?" she asked with her confused face though she knew.
Zerah scoffed, "Stop playing games, Kalina. I know you know who I am. I'm Zerah. Kith's fiancé,"
Kali made an 'O' look, standing up. "Well, what brings you here, Ms. Zerah who is Kith's fiancé that I don't give a shit, barging in my office like a raging bull?" Kali taunts while leaning on her desk.
Zerah's clenched her fist. "Why didn't you come yesterday? Do you know how long I've waited? How dare you made me look like a fool waiting there?!" she exclaimed.
Kali tilted her head, "That was you?"
"Will you stop playing innocent!" Zerah yelled.
Kali shook her head with disappointment, "Now, now, Ms. I'm not playing innocent here. It's not my fault that your number wasn't on my contact list, nor not know you, like how you look and all. Kith never showed your picture and I don't have time to be curious about insignificant people in my life. Also, I did say that I was busy and didn't say I will come. So it's solely your fault for waiting there. Don't blame it on me," she said with a bored expression.
Zerah's blood is boiling, "You're conceited, feeling entitled-
"That goes the same for you!" Kali raised her voice stopping Zerah from speaking.
"You barged here with your childish tantrum wasting my time. If you got a problem, tell your so-called fiance, and don't involve me in your affair!" she exclaimed.
"If you don't want to get involved, then stop flirting with Kith!" Zerah said.
Kali starts laughing. "Was that what he told you, ha? Every time he comes home late? You two are one funny couple,"
"If you're not flirting with him, how did you know-
"That he comes home late? Well, his siblings told me," she smirked.
Zerah clenched her jaw. She knows that Kith's siblings are on good terms with Kali.
"You know, instead of pointing blame on others, why don't you look at the mirror and see what's wrong? If you are worried that Kith will leave you, then that has nothing to do with me. Even if he did, it's not my problem. And for the sake of your sanity, rest assured that I don't take back what I left in the past, especially when my present is so beautiful that I wanted to keep it forever," Kali stated. She sounded soft at the last part catching Zerah's curiosity.
"You're in love," she stated softly.
Kali smiled, "I am,"
Zerah realized that Kali is telling the truth that she wasn't involved with Kith anymore.
Kali walks and stands in front of her.
"Communication is always one of the most important things in a relationship. If something is bothering you, talk to him. You and Kith are now together. You have the right to question him and demand an answer for it. I will say this once, I and Kith were long gone. The moment he chose you, I let go of everything. I took the chance to focus on myself. I will never force myself on someone who's already decided. He chose you and I chose myself," Kali said.
Zerah took a deep breath and smiles, "I understand now. Thank you, and I'm sorry for barging in. I know that you were hurt because of what happened and it was neither your nor Kith's fault. I just love him so much. I know I'm being selfish but, he's the only one I got. I can feel that he still loves you but he was first mine. If only Shiena didn't capture me and faked my death, Kith and I will be been married for years. But I can't change the past and I can't let him go. It's selfish, I know, but-
"Hey... It's okay. It was Kith's choice. I understand where you were coming from. Besides, the past is past. Let's not dwell on that. Both of us have our own lives. I am happy with my lover and even if Kith tries to win me back, I will choose my present. Not because of you or because I still can't forgive him but for myself. I know this time, I found the right one for me," Kali said.
Zerah smiled, "I hope so. Uhm, I'll go ahead. Again, I'm sorry,"
Kali shakes her head with a smile, "No harm done,"
Zerah then offered a handshake which Kali accepted. When Kali is alone again, she plopped down on the sofa. Leaning her head, she took a deep breath. She feels tired of talking but relieved at some point.

When it was time to go home, she hurried home because she feels exhausted and wanted to hit the bed.
She arrived and parked her car. She went straight to her room to freshen up. She didn't even think of eating.
A little past an hour, her wristwatch vibrates. It wasn't an ordinary wristwatch. It was a device that is connected to all the security devices not only her house but the whole property.
It gave her a signal about intruders. Intruders cannot easily go in. Another signal was sent that the intruder is already inside but she stayed still on her bed.
The assassin that Bryce sent, thought that Kali is an ordinary civilian that can easily kill. She planned to torture her to get the information they seek.
She thought that Kali has no security that's why she easily broke in. But little did she know, Kali is just letting her in.
Kali felt that the assassin is right outside her room. She smirked with a thought.
'This better be worth my sleep'
An UD before I sleep. Thanks, guys for everything.
