The road to Wrestlemania 39 kicked off tonight in the Lone Star State. San Antonio, Texas would host the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches along with multiple other title matches. With an hour away from the start of the show, the kickoff show began as the anticipation for the event built.
Backstage in a locker room, Y/N wrapped his wrists and fingers with tape. His gear was on and his jacket and title were nearby. He was also joined by his platinum blonde girlfriend in the locker room.
Gionna didn't have a match for the night, but she was still happy to support her man. She sat with her legs across his lap, scrolling through her social medias. She came across a post of Y/N from the WWE account.
"What an impressive first year from Jordan Pierce. He made his debut in last year's Rumble and defends his United States title tonight!" The post's caption read. It included pictures from his debut, eventual alignment with the Judgment Day, and his title win/defenses.
"I can't believe it's been a year on the main roster for you already." Gionna smiled at the pictures of him.
"I know, it flew by really fast. But it's definitely had its moments." He replied.
Gionna set her phone down and smiled with a head tilt. "Yeah? Like what?"

"Well debuting in the Rumble was a good start. Then a Mania match a few months in was also good. I was in a match with Edge, won the U.S. title and defended it against Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, Seth, and Bobby and ended the year still champion. Yeah, not a bad first year if I'd say so." He placed his hand on her legs.
"I think you might be forgetting something." Gionna bantered back, knowing he purposely left out a key detail.
"Or, I'm saving the best for last." He grinned. "I swear my time up here would not have been as enjoyable if it wasn't for you. Having you by my side has made me a better man in every aspect. You brightened every day with your smile and laugh."
Gionna intently listened to his words with an adoring smile. She truly had the best man as her boyfriend.
"Gionna Jene Daddio, not only are you my girlfriend, you are my best friend. You were the highlight of my year and will continue to be the highlight of my life." Y/N ended. As soon as he finished speaking Gionna captured his lips with her own.
"Gosh, you are so good with your words baby. And I will gladly continue to be your highlight if you'll let me." She moved herself onto his lap, caressing his cheek.
Y/N soothly rubbed her back. "Of course my love. You're my soulmate." This time it was Y/N who initiated the kiss. Gionna melted into the kiss, feeling on top of the world.
