The pain was excruciating. With this much, I don’t think even a dream could hold it. And I couldn’t be dead. I wish I was though.

I opened my eyes to see a white room. Where in the hell was I? A steady beep sounded through the room. I hadn’t a clue where I was, but it didn’t matter. Because what did matter was the fact that I was alive. Why? Why lord? Why couldn’t you just let me die?

“Awake I see? Lacey Chaos, correct?” Came a masculine voice.

I looked up to see a young man with brown hair and hazel eyes. He wore a white lab coat and trendy glasses. He was quite good looking, but never mined that fact. Who was he?

“Where am I?” I asked, my voice surprisingly weak and light.

“Green slopes hospital.” He said.

I nearly panicked. Someone had found me bloodied and unconscious in the forest? I’d be amazed if my clothes were fully intact at that time. More so the fact someone had saved me. “Why?” I asked, brows furrowing.

“A man brought you in.” He said, looking curious himself.

“W-w-what did he look like?” I asked, my usual stutter picking up.

“It was late last night. I was off shift, but he was pale apparently.”

Shit! “Oh, r-right, okay. What’s the time?” I asked, face worried, my dimples showing. (Weird, I know.)

“Eleven…at night I mean.” He said.

I pouted. “I’m tired.” I lied.

“I’ll leave you then. If anything is urgent, just push the button. Goodnight.” And he walked out the door closing it.

I waited for a minute, and then leaped out of the bed, nearly falling in the process as I hurt like you wouldn’t believe. I groaned, hauling myself to the other side of the room to collect my clothes. They’d been washed, as the stains weren’t as bad and the holes weren’t as big as before. My light green hoodie had had blood stains and everything on it. And my black skinny jeans had had massive holes in them. Now they were moderately big holes and the blood stains were nearly gone.

You may ask ‘what the fuck were you doing?’ I was in a fight with a Demon Lord. Yes, that’s right, a bloody Demon Lord. And he whipped my ass good.  From what I could see last night, he had black hair and pale skin (really good looking). He was also tall. But I guess that was a tad bias because I was quite short for a 17 year old girl. Well, not really a girl. I was a lower demon myself. Quite low in the rankings to be honest. Just above slaves. I was a poor, homeless, orphaned girl in the Demon Realm. It was a lot like Earth, but we had castles instead of high rises. And we had farm land instead of estates. Our Realm was bigger and higher than Earth. But of course, Earth hadn’t a clue about the realms. Therefore being one of the lowest. There were 13 Realms. But I was too busy pulling my pants on to think of that now.

Once changed and sore, I snuck out of my room and down the corridor to the “exit” sign. I slipped out the door onto a balcony. Running as gracefully as I could (I’m in pain!) down the stairs, I jumped onto the concrete and ran off towards the lights of the city.

I ran down the deserted pathway, each footstep scuffing. It almost sounded like my steps were echoing, until I turned around to be faced by the Lord from last night.

My eyes went wide as I pelted into the closest undergrowth, in an attempt to avoid all human interaction.

My leg was pulled out from under me, making me face plant into the muddy grass.

“You disobeyed the law.” He said, eyes bright red. “I took you to the hospital, trying to make you go back. Seeing as you interacted with the human, I thought it would have scared you. But no, not you little one. You just slipped out, stronger than others. I bet you’re still sore from last night’s battle.”

“Would you shut up!?” I yelled, knowing my eyes were glowing a brilliant purple from the lack of blood. “I came here to escape the p-poverty and all the Lords! I was in d-debt because of m-my b-brother, who was killed. Yet I must carry his b-burden and have stupid people like you come after me!” I yelled, my eyes changing from a purple to a maroon.

“Do not speak to me like that! I am far superior to a homeless whore like you!” His eyes glowing brighter.

“Using Earth t-terms now!? I think you’ve sunk lower than m-me!” I protested.

His eyes dimmed, but then grew brighter than before.

He slammed a wall of sound waves into me, then a wall of heat.

I wanted to curl up and scream, ‘make it go away’. But no, I got to my feet and ran.

I ran like I never had before, ignoring all the pain. I felt like a free bird, till I lost my wings. He had used a fire ball of dark energy against my legs. I thought they might have fallen off. But no.

He slammed a wall of fire energy against my non-moving body on the ground. Making it all go black. There was no moon that could light this night. I was dead. And this time, I was sure.
