Recap - Chapter 16:

“Are we going or not?”

He held my arm still, as we walked towards the exit. I was still in a half trance, not able to understand what they were talking about quietly.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we entered the Demon Realm…

Chapter 17:

If you worry about it, think about it. Eventually pick up a road and walk down it. There is no way it isn’t connected somehow to the place you’re looking for…

One day, your painful memories will definitely become the knowledge you need; to protect yourself and the people you owe and love.

“Lacey? You’re spilling water on yourself.” Charis said. I blinked and looked down at the dress I was wearing, which was now wet. It was a plain crème dress with a corset and long sleeves. I had been whipping down tables at the inn the school was booked into.

“Oh.” I said. '

Cheer up sleepy jean oh what can it mean to a, Day dream believer and a Home coming queen'

I heard. I looked up and around the room. “What is th-that?” I asked.

“Music.” Charis laughed.

I blinked. “Yeah.” I kept on whipping the table.

“…You’ve been whipping that spot for five minutes.” Chairs said, bending to look at my face. “Is there something the matter?”

I blinked again. “Oh…um, no.” I said, walking to another table and sprayed and whipped it down too. Suddenly a herd of girls came down the stairs, squealing and talking loudly.

“What’s going on?” Charis asked them.

A blond girl, Girdle, I think, said, “the ball is tonight!”

“What?” Charis asked confused. “I thought it was tomorrow night.”

“No! Mr. Smith just told us now! We need to gather everyone up and meet outside! Come on!” Another excited girl said.

I looked at Charis as he shrugged, chucking his rag down onto the table and following the girls out. All the boys were already outside and so were the teachers who came.

“Are we all here?” Lord Kayle asked. There was a sound of agreement and laughs. “Right, quiet down!” We did. “Okay, so as you’ve all heard, the ball is tonight as we got the dates wrong. So we need to go into town in a quiet manner and collect clothes for tonight-” Suddenly everyone broke out in conversation.

“I wasn’t finished!” He yelled, louder than all the voices. The crowd became silent and he continued. “Right…as I was saying, we need to go into town to get clothes for tonight. So you will be broken into groups and taken into town by a teacher.” He said loudly. “There are about 150 students, so break up into groups of about 25.” He said. “6 teachers, 6 groups. You have five minutes.”
