Don’t you find it ironic that the worst subject you have is with the worst teacher and it only makes it worse? I wish I was good at math, but to be quite frank, I really suck. It just amazes me how I end up with my enemy as my teacher. I mean, how bad CAN IT GET!?
“Just solve these problems on the board using the formula. Simple. If anyone needs help, ask a question.” He said, as if he were a nice person. His voice different.
The book he had given me was now acting as a pillow for my (dead) head.
“Miss Chaos, any reason why you refuse to do the work?” He asked from the front of the room.
I didn’t say anything.
“An answer, please?” He asked ‘professionally’.
“I don’t d-do m-math. Period.” I said quietly.
“Excuse me?”
I shrugged, moving so I was sitting up and facing him.
“Do you need help?” He asked.
Rich coming from you, Ass hole! I shrugged.
“We don’t tolerate peasant shit in this school. You’re lucky to even be getting an education. I’ll be seeing you after the lesson.” He said, walked up and opened the book.
Everyone smirked and snickered.
The idiot spent the lesson trying to explain it to me. He got me to do one sum, which I didn’t understand. His writing was very round, whereas mine was cursive.
“No, here, write it here.” He said, exasperated. “You just made that mistake again. And stop drawing.” He took the pencil and wrote in the formula once more. I ‘tried’ once more. “You’re hopeless, extra lessons for you.” He said it loud enough for the whole class to hear.
More giggles.
“Zack, unless you want another detention, I would stop drawing inappropriate images on your book and passing notes about Lacey.” He said, taking a note from Zack’s desk. “ ‘Partii 2nite @ my room. Lacey is hot ay!!!’ I quote.” He said, writing it on the board, screwing up the piece of paper. “No party to night Mr. Williams, unless you think of detention as one. Lacey will join you so you can check her out as much as you like then.”
The class laughed. He appeared strict, but was funny at the same time…well…to them, not me. I viewed him as what he really was…an ass.
The bell went at that moment.
“Lacey, stay in, Zack, George and Lacey, I’ll see you after dinner.” He sighed.
The two boys ran off like idiots and I stood to sneak off as he was whipping the board off. “Where are you going?” He asked his deep, normal voice back on.
The door shut in my face.
“Are you just shit in mathematics? Or are you trying to make my life hell?” He was seriously aggravated. “The ones who play up the most get killed you know.” He said. “You should be lucky to be getting an education, you’re only a peasant. Take it as a blessing like everyone else.”
“Can I leave n-now?’’ I asked, as if I were the one dealing with a troublesome student.
He dropped the duster into its holder and walked over to me, tall and strong. “You’re bloody rude!” He said. “And you know what? Teachers are allowed to hit students. We’re allowed to kill them. Only in serious cases, but your life is small here. You’re small and weak here. No one will save you.” He said, towering over me.
“Why is there a sick b-bay then?” I asked, eyes narrowing. “You d-don’t scare me.” He did, he scared the shit out of me. He could easily kill me.
He looked at me, shaking his head.
Subconsciously, I took a step backwards. Stupid girl! Don’t do that, now he knows you’re worried. I glared at him.
“Let me out, I’m going to run Charis late.” I said, and then realized what I had said. “And why the HELL did you put me in with a b-b, a-a-a b-boy? Why n-not a girl!? I mean, God!” I yelled.
He looked down at me. “Thought you would like it, you came across as a tramp.” He smirked.
“How!?” I asked.
He shrugged. “I d-d-don’t k-know.” He mimicked me.
I groaned. “Open the fucking door!” I yelled.
He slapped me. Because of all the fighting I’d been doing lately, it knocked me to the ground. I swore under my breath.
“You don’t swear at teachers.” He looked me up and down. “Especially if you’re weak like you.”
I glared. “That’s your fault! Let me out.”
“Hey Lacey! You ready?” Charis said from outside.
Kayle turned, “get up.” He said. “Get up.” He said, more power to his voice.
I did, and exited the room.
“Did you hear anything?” I asked.
“They somehow made it so that no noise comes out from the inside. But noise can come in from the outside. Amazing huh?” He looked at me, smiling. He has blue eyes and perfect teeth. He was taller than most other boys I’d seen today. But Lord Kayle would probably still tower over him.
“Hmm, oh, yeah.” I said, looking away.
“Why were you in there so long?”
“I don’t do maths.”
“You choose not to, or you just don’t, you’re not good at it?”
“Um, yeah.”
“That doesn’t make sense.” He laughed.
“Yeah…”
“You have English now. You’re late, and so am I.” He chuckled. “Good luck.”
