CHAPTER 07: ONE WHO SHARED MY BREAD, HAS TURNED AGAINST ME.

third person's POV.

...

In the storage room, Miranda and Tobias worked together at a cluttered table. They were sorting through the limited amount of food Varus' group had managed to get.

Miranda let out a sigh and pushed some cans aside. "We really have to be careful with this. It needs to last."

Tobias nodded, agreeing. "We need to make sure we ration everything wisely."

"If only hindi tayo madami dito, e..." Miranda said, annoyed.

They began organizing the food items, separating ones that might expire soon and focusing on those that could last longer.

While everyone else had gone to sleep, Cadmus, Varus, Yuki, and Jonathan were still awake.

Meanwhile, Yuki and Jonathan were playing a game of hide and seek. Jonathan was hiding, and Yuki was quietly searching for him.

As Yuki made her way towards the kitchen, she was surprised to hear soft voices coming from around the corner. Curious, she peeked through the doorway and froze when she saw Heather and Axle passionately kissing.

Feeling like she had stumbled upon something private, Yuki quickly looked away. She hadn't expected to see such an intimate moment and felt very embarrassed.

When she was about to leave quietly, Heather and Axle noticed her presence.

Yuki quickly shook her head, her cheeks slightly red. "Sorry."

With that, Yuki ran and left the area, allowing Heather and Axle to have their private moment.

"Nakahawak ka na ba ng baril dati?" Varus asked Cadmus, his voice curious and low.

Cadmus shifted uneasily, looking down at his hands. "Hindi pa. Most of what I know is from the video games I used to play."

Varus raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Video games? Baka magamit mo na yang galing mo sa mga laro ngayon."

Before Cadmus could respond, the lights above them began to flicker. Both of them glanced up, and suddenly, the room plunged into darkness as the lights went out completely.

Cadmus reached for his pocket flashlight. He and Varus exchanged a glance, their senses on high alert.

"Anong nangyari?" Yuki whispered, her voice barely audible over the rain outside.

Varus shook his head, his expression tense. "I'm not sure. It could be a power outage, or something else."

Cadmus held the flashlight tightly as he looked into the darkness, his heart beating fast.

"Check natin 'yung fuse box," Varus suggested calmly. With his flashlight guiding the way, Varus got up from the couch carefully. They made their way to the corner of the room where the fuse box was located.

As they inspected the fuse box, the rain outside got heavier. Varus used his flashlight to examine the fuses, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"Parang isa sa mga fuse sumabog.," Varus said. "Kailangan natin maghanap ng kapalit."

Just as they were about to head upstairs to look for a fuse, a loud crash echoed from another room.

Varus reached for his pocket, readying his weapon. They listened carefully, trying to detect any more sounds.

"Looks like we're not alone," Cadmus whispered, gripping his flashlight tightly.

The rain outside continued to fall, and the world outside the windows was pitch-black. In this moment of uncertainty, Varus and Cadmus stood together, prepared to face any danger lurking in the shadows.
