CHAPTER 15: THE WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.

third person's POV.

...

Drystan abruptly woke up, gasping for air. Sweat clung to his forehead, and his heart pounded wildly. He had just been through a really weird and creepy dream where he felt this strong urge to eat flesh and had this crazy thirst. It was so vivid that the unsettling feeling lingered even after he woke up, leaving him trying to shake off the weird images from his mind.

Serena approached Drystan, a concern look on her face. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked.

Drystan managed a nod, but when she questioned him about being a teacher and why he lied, he avoided eye contact, a heavy silence hanging in the air.

Serena, sensing his hesitation, said, "I get it if you don't want to answer or if there's a reason. I just hope that's the only thing you lied about..." With that, Serena left, leaving a sense of unspoken tension between them.

In an attempt to distract his thoughts, Drystan called everyone, suggesting they continue planning. Focusing on their task, he proposed a plan to reach the subway station.

"We've got to avoid main roads. Stick to back alleys and less crowded streets. And we can't attract attention." Drystan said and placed a map on the table. "Let's identify and map out the safest routes to the subway station."

Varus suggests, "Let's grab anything that could be use as a weapon and wrap any exposed skin with anything you could makeshift as a protection. While we're outside, let's move quietly, minimize noise, and remain vigilant to reduce the risk of attracting the infecteds' attention."

Zild proposed a diversion tactic to draw the infected away from their path to the subway station.

"Let's create makeshift noisemakers using cans or other objects that could be easily banged together. This would attract the infected towards the noise, leading them away from our intended route. I suggest we form two teams, the other equipped with these noisemakers to strategically divert the attention of the infected in different directions. This would create openings for the other group to navigate more safely. While the distraction team drew away the infected, the main group could move through quieter, less populated areas, minimizing the risk of detection."

"Oh, let's also make signal signs to coordinate movements between the two teams, ensuring everyone stays on the same page!" Perseus added.

Drystan noticed Serena looking distant and seemingly sad. As he was about to approach her, Lilith suggested a plan that redirect Drystan's focus.

"OR, instead of that plan, if the infecteds' senses are deteriorating, and like what Serena mentioned that it's mainly smell and hearing they rely on, why don't we use their weakness against them? Let's put some of the infected's blood on us. It might mask our scent and make it harder for them to pick up on us."

Madison's eyes widened in realization. "Pwede 'yun! That could actually work. But we've got to be careful not to get it in any open wounds or eyes."

Syndra expressed her concerns, stating, "What!? Putting zombie blood on us seems riskier! There's a chance of infection, and it might not fool the infected up close, girl! We could be in more danger that way!"

Lilith, countering the argument, responded, "Sure, both plans have risks, and we would need to carefully weigh the potential dangers associated with each, but I think the diversion tactic might be more dangerous. The distraction group can't predict the exact number of infected they might encounter or how they'll react to the distraction. They could get overwhelmed if they encounter a larger group of infected than anticipated, and the noise might attract other dangers."
