The Saturday morning of Ava's birthday, I woke up at half past four in the morning. Josh was gone and I remembered he'd be working an early shift. He wouldn't have left yet so I sat up and rubbed my eyes. It wasn't often that I got to see him leave for the early shift. The bedroom door opened and he walked back in, wearing his EMT uniform. He was messing around with his phone and I saw him smile when he saw me.
"Hey, little mouse," He said, sitting next to me. I snuggled closer and he put his arm around me. "You're awake early."
"It'll sound really silly, but I think I felt you leave." I said, softly.
"So, your psychic powers work even whilst asleep." He said, and I giggled.
"W-wish you could stay." I said.
"Please don't tempt me," He said, hand brushing against my arm. "It is the ass crack of dawn and I don't want to be awake."
"O-ok, well I'll be here when you get back." I smiled.
"Tryin' to make me jealous will result in punishment." He said.
"Nooo, don't be mean." I said.
"Don't complain too much," He said, breath fanning my ear. "You'd love the punishment anyway."
"Q-quit it, you're making me blush." I said.
"Told you I do it on purpose." Josh said.
I giggled and shifted, bringing my leg over so I was straddling him. Those dark blue eyes watched me and that slow smirk appeared on his face. His hands grasped my thighs, squeezing them gently.
"Oh no, I've been pinned by a really short girl," He said, and I smiled. "How will I escape?"
"You won't," I said, then looked at his uniform properly. It was a dark blue, the sleeves were short, revealing the miasma of tattoos that ran up his arms. He looked really good and my face went red. "Y-you look good in your uniform."
"Yeah," He said, leaning forward, hands tracing up my legs. "Gets your panties wet, does it, little mouse?"
"I-i have no idea what you're talking about." I giggled.
"Much as I really like where this is going," Josh said, moving away from me and leaning back against the headboard. "I do have to go to work."
"I know." I said, and shifted off his lap.
"Don't look so glum," He said, shifting and lying next to me. "I'll come back and ravage you after my shift."
"Y-you could now." I giggled, and my face felt like it was burning.
"Yeah, I really could," He murmured. "But then I'd be late. And have a raging boner."
He shifted closer and pressed a kiss to my lips. I watched him get up and head to the door. He clicked the light off and I flopped back down on the bed, sighing. I heard him leave and I looked at the ceiling. I closed my eyes, hoping to doze off again.
When I woke up again, it was half ten and thin rays of sunlight were slanting through the window. I got up and looked around. The room was cluttered, but then it had always been cluttered. I wasn't used to it. I went to the wash basket, carrying it to the kitchen.
Kenny was on the couch when I walked through and he glanced at me, tilting his head to see what I was carrying.
"Whatcha got there, Dais?" He asked.
"Laundry, but it's difficult to tell since there are clothes all over the floor." I said, giggling.
"Yeah, Josh is kinda like a fuckin' gremlin." Kenny said, laughing.
