Three weeks before Desiree and Theo were to be married, Sadie and I arranged the bachelorette party for the 25th January. I appreciated Sadie's help immensely. She was organized and planned everything to a tee. We met up the Thursday before to discuss everything. I was on a late lunch break from work and I met her in a nearby bakery.
I offered to buy her a cake for helping me, but she declined. We sat down with coffees and she pulled out a diary from her bag.
"So, I've booked for us to get our hair done," She said, smiling. "Did you book the nail appointment?"
"Yep, all sorted." I said.
"Fabulous," She said, leafing through her diary. "Then at night we're going to Daintree to sit on the rooftop bar and get drunk."
"I hope Desiree likes everything." I said.
"Sure she will," Sadie said. "I've also tasked Johnny with sorting out the bachelor party and he's managed to plan that. Everythin' is going according to my very careful planning."
"What are the guys doing?" I asked.
"Well, it's just a bar crawl so it wasn't too difficult to plan," Sadie said, laughing. "The only stipulation I had was that there were to be no strip clubs included in that."
"Is that normal for bachelor parties?" I asked.
"Sometimes, but Desiree didn't want them going to any." Sadie said, shrugging.
"I had no idea Theo really liked them." I laughed.
"Apparently it's not Theo that's the issue," Sadie said, leaning towards me. "Leo used to frequent them and although Desiree was the one to request it, Elaina was the one to tell Desiree."
"Oh, I had no idea." I said.
"No, neither did I," Sadie replied. "And I didn't want to pry too much because it's not my place to."
After we'd finished our drinks and talked some more about planning, I went back to work. The rest of the week passed and Saturday arrived. This would be the first night I spent away from Josh, apart from when he'd work night shifts. To say, I'd miss him was an understatement.
On Saturday morning, I had a shower and got dressed. I packed an overnight bag and went downstairs. I wanted to have a cuddle with Josh before Sadie arrived. I rounded the couch and smiled when he pulled me to sit on his lap. I cuddled close and sighed.
"I'll miss you." I smiled.
"One night, Daisy," Josh said. "It's just for one night."
"Saying you won't miss me?" I giggled.
"Yes, Daisy, without you here I will cease to exist." He said.
"Meanie." I said, and he laughed.
I lifted my head to look at him and he met my gaze. I smiled when he leaned his forehead against my own.
"You know I'm only jokin', right?" He said.
"Yeah, I know," I replied. "Am I allowed to message you? I don't want to distract you."
"Yeah, you can message me," Josh said. "And what will you be distractin' me from, exactly? I might be a little busy stoppin' Kenny from whatever stupid shit he's got planned, but you can still message me."
"Yeah, I don't want to distract from that, from the fun." I reiterated.
"I'm not sure fun is the right word, little mouse." Josh said.
"You don't want to go and party?" I asked.
"Not really no," He said, taking my hand. "Goin' out means people and people are inherently annoying."
