I was awakened the following morning by Josh rubbing my shoulder. I smiled and turned over, cuddling close to him. I opened my eyes and peeked at him.
"Good morning." I said, sighing.
"Sleep well, little mouse?" He asked, running his fingers through my hair.
"Yeah, really good," I replied. "The bed is so soft. So, what are we doing today?"
"Not a lot, I don't think," Josh said, and I frowned. "Look outside."
I shifted and looked over his shoulder. The window was on the opposite wall and the curtains were open. It was snowing heavily. I guessed any planned activities would be canceled. I couldn't bring myself to feel too disappointed about spending an entire day inside with him.
"Oh no." I said.
"You sound really disappointed, little mouse." Josh said, and I giggled.
I lay back down and cuddled up to him again. We'd need to get food, but that could wait for now. We stayed in bed for the rest of the morning, getting up around eleven. We had a shower and got dressed.
We left the cottage and walked into town to grab stuff for dinner. The streets were quiet and we found a supermarket. I filled the shopping cart with snacks and two bottles of strawberry wine that was locally made.
"Need to eat somethin' other than Oreos, Daisy." Josh said.
"No, 'cause we're on vacation and we can just eat snacks." I giggled.
He nudged me with the shopping cart and I laughed. I moved and walked next to him, putting my hands on the cart as well, walking next to him. We settled on a pasta meal for two that could be heated quickly. I found a cookie pie and insisted we buy it.
We left the supermarket. I was clutching the bag while Josh lit a cigarette. He took a drag and held out his hand. I took his hand.
"I meant the bag, little mouse." He laughed.
"It's not heavy." I said.
"Probably not, but it'd be mean to make you carry it." He said, and I handed it over.
We walked back to the cottage, getting back as the snow started again. We got to the door and I leaned down, scooping up some snow and launching a snowball at him. I stepped back when Josh smirked. He set the bag on the porch step and I backstepped again. He scooped up some snow and threw a snowball at me.
I laughed and went to grab more snow. He was quicker than me, hitting me with another snowball.
"No fair, give me a chance to reload." I giggled.
"This is war, little mouse." He said, moving to the side when I threw a snowball at him.
He threw another at me and I squealed when it hit me. I grabbed more snow and threw another, missing again.
"Stay still, please." I said, and he raised a brow.
"No, I don't think I will," He said. "I'm gonna use the fact that you're a shit shot to my advantage."
"I am not." I said, throwing another snowball.
It hit the fresh snow on the ground and I laughed, running away when he threw another snowball at me, hitting my arm.
"No, I'm wounded." I laughed, squealing when he picked me up.
Josh settled me in his arms and I smiled when our eyes met. I gripped his jacket collar and leaned closer, kissing him. He returned the kiss. We pulled apart and I yelped when he went to drop me.
