Chapter 7 Options

" Oh!You're blind!"

" Yes I'm blind!"

" So can I pet your dog seeing you can't see how much he really wants me to pet him?"

" Are you ever going to give up?"

" Not exactly!"

" Fine whatever, pet him."

" Hey buddy..."

I was quite shocked, his reaction to knowing I'm blind wasn't what I thought it would be. Normally it starts pouring sympathies all over the place. But he- he just reacted like it was the most normal thing. He did sound shocked by the fact that I couldn't see him, I could definetly hear it in his voice; but when he heard I was blind he had no reaction at all. I presume not from not knowing what to say but because he thought I was just normal. I really loved his response.

"Look at him! He's such a nice little doggy!"

" Well that's great."

" Oh I almost forgot to ask, will you drink your hot chocolate or will you just allow it to go cold?"

Wow! I thought he was finally going to ask about my blindness but no he didn't. This is really nice.

" I almost forgot about it!"

" Kinda do have that effect on people!"

" Huh?"

"Huh?"

" Jax, are you on the move or do I have to get you a table, Sweetheart?"

" Actually I was thinking of staying!"

" Noo Jax! Don't look at her like that!"

" What? Why not?"

"Thea honey, is your date still coming?"

" I was..."

Then my phone buzzed, it was the reminder.

" I have to go!"

" By yourself? No you're not! At least wait for your date! Maybe he's running late"

" Or maybe you've been stood up!"

" Shut up Jax!"

" Yes Minny I'm leaving on my own. I got here on my own and I'll get there on my own!"

" There? Are you going home?" exclaimed Minny

" The school! Then I'll call Mom to come pick me up!"

" Why don't you wait for her over here? I can call your Dad if you like"

" Noo! You're not calling anybody."

" The way I see it, you have two options, goddess."

" Explain yourself!"

" Well, option number 1: I walk you to school. Option number 2, Minny calls your rents. How does that sound?"

" Dude, I don't know who you are. Or what your problem is but no! I'm not gonna take any of your lame options."

" I'm Jax, you hurt my feelings goddess. My problem, well really I'd hate to see a girl and her dog walk all by their own. Man, especially when she's been stood up. But oh well Minny do as you wish."

" Yes I'm calling her Dad to come pick her up."

" I don't really get why you're making such a fuss Minny."

" You're the one who's making a fuss. Stop being stubborn for once would you. Just let me call your Dad.."

" Or I could walk you back to school, your choice really!"

" Fine, I'd rather take the annoying jerk."

"I've been called so many things but annoying, this is definitely new." sarcastically

" Okay I won't call your dad."

" Can you bring my order over here Minny?"

" Suddenly felt like sitting down?" asked Minny

" Sitting down??"

" Yes goddess, on a chair. I don't know if you know it, it's a wooden thing with 4 legs, has a back, we use it to sit down."

" Don't be cocky with me! I thought you were walking me back to school."

" I did mention that, but I might have forgotten to mention that I'm having my delicious mocha and blueberry muffin. So I have to sit down."

He went and pulled a chair out, of my table- my table. He was going to sit where I was sitting, where Walter was supposed to be seated.He was really
starting to get on my nerves

" Here you go Jax!"

I could hear the sound of the spoon clattering against the cup and the next minute the tray I was placed on top of the table.

" Thank you so much Minny, is my takehome order ready?"

" No sweetheart, just a couple of minutes."

" Okay! Thanks"

There was a sound that sounded like he was opening something.

" Do the muffins come in a package?"

" Actually no that was the wipe,hygiene first! You probably didn't get one cos you didn't pet a dog or maybe you never ordered anything that requires you to eat with your hands."

I was just going to ignore him after this.

" This is heaven..."

He was making moaning sounds each time it sounded like he was taking a bite.

"You really have to try this."

" No I'm fine!"

" Suit yourself."

I never drank my hot chocolate, honestly I didn't feel like drinking or eating anything.I was pissed and annoyed and all those other feelings. He pulled his chair back when he was done, Minny brought his order and I reached inside my pocket for my emergency money to pay for the hotchocolate.

" Don't you dare do that."

" Minny I have to pay for my hotchocolate."

" It's on the house or maybe Jax can pay for it"

" No! What's it with you and giving me ultimatums today? I'd rather let you allow me not to pay."

" Bye honey, see you soon. And tell your date he can draw air for all I care."

I pulled my chair out, "Bye!"

I went out with Bryce's hold on my hand. I knew the jerk was following after me. We had already walked a while in silence and he decided to talk.

" So Thea.."

" I was enjoying my peace and quietness"

" Okay. But.."

" Do you go around pestering every girl you see or do you only pester blind ones?"

He laughed, " You know, you're very funny. Why do you say that? Or do you normally get attention cos you're blind? Listen Thea, I'll tell you what you are, you're a girl and you're blind. But I'm not talking to you because you're blind."
