The Balance

Chapter 41

I'm laying on the couch, reading a book or actually staring at the page. I can't focus as I run through the last few days. Klaus and I booking up, then Tyler showing back up.

"Have you seen Elena?" Stefan asks as he walks into the living room.

"No," I look up from the page, "I thought she went back to college?"

"Yeah that's what I thought too," He pulled out his phone, "Caroline said she isn't there."

I shrug "Maybe she is just talking some time away from all the craziness."

"Yeah," He puts his phone up to his ear, "maybe. Are you going to Tyler's party?"

I freeze, "uh no.."

He frowns at his phone and locks it, "well I need you to."

"Why?"

"Because I need help keeping an eye on Damon, and figuring out where he buried Katherine's body."

"You want me to babysit our brother?" I ask him.

Stefan nods, "yes. I figured you would be up for it since Tyler is finally back in town. Don't you want to try to work things out with him?"

I feel myself tense up, "About that.. Tyler tried to get me kill in New Orleans. We aren't exactly on good terms."

Stefan snaps his head up, "what?"

"It's a long story." I wave him off, "yeah I'll go to the party and keep an eye on Damon."

I approach Tyler's house. Music is blaring and people are everywhere walking around with red solo cups. I walked into the house and see Matt and Tyler standing off in the corner laughing. I quickly turn around and run off through the hallway to avoid them.

"Alison!" I turn to see Elena screaming my name, "I thought you weren't coming?"

"Stefan said I need to watch Damon," I look around, "which I'm not seeing him?"

"I don't think he's here?" She said.

"Perfect." I grab a drink and sip on it, "Wait, where the heck have you been? I thought you avoiding all of us. My brothers have been looking for you."

She shrugs, "I've just been out. Thinking. Processing. The usual."

I nod, turning my head making sure Tyler isn't coming near me.

"Are you okay?" Elena asks, "you seen skittish."

I sigh, if anyone knows what it means to hook up with two people they shouldn't it's her. I mean she hooked up with both of my brothers. "What would you say if I told you that when a certain awful person was in town that I told myself I would never cross that line with again but, I ran into him in the woods and sort of kissed him. He was there and obviously wanted to kiss me, so I thought "we'll just make out," but then, it felt really good to kiss him, so then I kind of, totally had sex with him, but I swear, I didn't plan to do it. Now, I feel terrible."

"and the person we're talking about is..." Elena asks.

I look down, "Klaus...."

"Oh wow.. That... that.. Wow. Really? I thought the two of you were over for good?"

I throw my hands up in the air, "I know I know. I told myself that I wouldn't hook up with him again. Especially after all the terrible things he did to everyone but..." I shake my head,  "I need you to tell me what an awful person I am."
