1.09 Spying on the Adults
Jamie was walking to meet up with her friends for lunch. As she did that, she noticed a familiar face in Mr. McCartney's room with her biology teacher. It had been Cleo, the worker who took interested in Avery's locket. Jamie stood in the doorway, listening to their conversation.
"Lewis she had Emma's locket on her neck!" Cleo screamed at him, it wasn't that hard to hear.
Mr. McCartney replied, "Cleo I know and the brunette has yours."
Her eyes widen, "And what about the blonde?"
"I have a name," Jamie thought to herself, "A very common name you can easily remember."
He responded, "I don't know. She might not have Rikki's."
"Rikki's? That girl who is named after the restaurant?" Jamie's thought ran through her head.
So were they all three mermaids like her, Kate and Avery? That was question that Jamie was begging for an answer.
Cleo sighed and then felt her neck. She looked up and had a two second contest with Jamie before she turned Mr. McCartney to face one of his students.
"Crap," Jamie breathed to herself as she ran out of the classroom.
She ran as quickly as she could like she was swimming in the ocean, following a dolphin. To her luck, around the corner, was Kate, Luke, and Avery who were discussing something.
"Hide me!" She screeched at them.
They turned and followed their friend's directions. She squatted down as they surround her in a circle. She heard footsteps coming towards the group.
"Hello, have you seen Jamie Shepard?" Mr. McCartney asked to her friends.
Kate replied, "I haven't seen her since the last time I saw her."
Cleo asked, "When was that?"
"The last time I saw her," Kate explained, "It's definitely the time I saw her last."
Cleo rolled her eyes and walked with Mr. McCartney to search the school for her. Once the adults were out of sight, Jamie stood up in the circle.
"Why were they looking for you?" Avery questioned.
Jamie rolled her eyes, "What do you think? The lockets."

Jamie's head popped out of the moon pool water to find Luke, sitting there.
"Hey," she swam up and sat on the rock in the pool.
He smiled, "Hi."
"So nerd what are you doing here?" She laid her arms on the edge of the sand.
He shrugged, "Studying everything, about the moon pool, mermaids."
Jamie looked at her tail as it moved slowly back and forth. She then glanced back at Luke.
"Luke," she breathed out.
He didn't look up from the papers that he was studying as he replied, "What?"
"Do you think I'm weird," she sighed, "For having this tail?"
He gazed at her, "No. I mean it doesn't matter if you have a tail or not, you are still you."
"Well that just got deep," Jamie laughed, trying to not be serious.
He nodded, "Yeah."
"I should get out," Jamie pulled herself out of the water as Luke made some space for her.
She laid down on the sand and let her hand out. Jamie started doing her powers and steam came out of her scales. It stung her but she had gotten used to it. She soon saw her legs and stood up.
"Let's explore," Jamie smiled.
"Oh no you won't," a voice and three bodies were walking up the stairs to the moon pool.
Rikki, Cleo and Mr. McCartney stood, blocking off the way out.
"Well so what are you kids doing here?" Rikki put her hands on her hips.
"Uh.. We are just..." Luke tried to think of a scenario.
Jamie added, "Exploring."
Cleo nodded and rolled her eyes, "Sure."
They made Luke and Jamie take a step back as they walked towards them. Jamie over looked her shoulder to see that one more step into the water. She had to think of something and fast. But it was too late. She was in flight as she fell into the water. Everyone watched from above. She stayed in the water as she felt the tingling feeling her legs and water bubbles surrounding her. Her golden tail replaced her legs. She wasn't scared of them above. Jamie swam up to face them. Everyone didn't look different, straight face like they have seen this before.
"I have been in this place before," Rikki laughed.
