2.00 The True Story

Kate walked out of Rikki's and someone zoomed up next to her.

"Hey, Kate," Ash smiled.

Kate replied, "Hi."

"So you know that English project with have to do?" He asked.

Kate nodded, "Yeah, rewrite a fairytale."

"Would it be okay if I do it with you?" He questioned with stumbles in between the words.

Kate nodded, "Sure, what fairytale were you thinking?"

"The Little Mermaid," he smiled.

"Okay, when do you want to work on it?" she questioned.

He answered, "How about right now?"

She replied as she walked away, "Can't. I got to go meet Jamie, Avery and Luke but how about later? Meet me here at four?"

He nodded, "Okay. See ya."

She waved as he walked away. That signaled Kate that she could jump into the water. When Kate got to Mako Island and to the moon pool, she didn't expect to see Jamie, Avery, Luke with the waitress, assistant dolphin trainer and her biology teacher.

"Um.." Kate felt awkward in the situation.

"Don't worry they know," Luke crossed his arms.

Kate said, "Well are they going to tell the story, the truth?"

"We are," Mr. McCartney explained, "It all started when Cleo, Rikki, and Emma got stuck on this island."

Avery asked, "Who is Emma?"

"Another mermaid," Cleo answered, "She is traveling around the world."

"Okay continue," Jamie nodded.

Rikki shook her head, "Well there isn't anything different. We jumped in and became mermaids."

"Not quite, Rikki," Mr. McCartney disagreed, "We faced a doctor who wanted to experiment on you guys."

"Oh yeah, the blondie," Cleo rolled her eyes.

Rikki whispered loudly, "Cleo was jealous of her, she thought that blondie was going to steal Lewis from her."

"Did not," Cleo replied.

"We also had to face Charlotte," Rikki remembered something else.

"Who is Charlotte?" Kate asked as she still sat in the water.

Mr. McCartney answered, "She was my girlfriend and she found out that her grandma was a mermaid. Became one herself and was causing trouble."

"At least we got rid of her powers," Rikki added.

"Is she still here, in Australia?" Avery asked.

Mr. McCartney answered, "Yeah. I teach her brother."

"Anyway, then we saved a meteor from hitting the Earth," Cleo continued.

"Oh thank you for that," Kate smiled.

Jamie asked, "Is there anything else we should know?"

"We should tell them about the Full Moon," Mr. McCartney went to a different subject.

Kate asked, "What are we? Mermaids and Werewolves?"

Cleo shook her head, "No. When it is a full moon, you can't look at, the reflection nothing."

"What happens if we don't look at?" Avery asked.

Rikki answered, "You become a zombie. Become mad."

"So we get angry when we see the moon?" Kate wondered outloud.

Jamie rolled her eyes, "Sorry she is American."

She glanced down at Kate, "Mad=Crazy."

Kate sighed.

Kate waited in the warm air with her laptop at one of the outside tables at Rikki. She saw Ash walking towards her.

"Hey, Kate!" he waved and sat in front of her.

She smiled and opened her laptop's lid, "So what should we do?"

"First of all, I don't want Ariel to die in the end," he blurted out a second after she asked him the question.

She nodded rapidly, "Totally."

"But what can we do that is different from the Disney version?" He asked.

Kate exclaimed, "Maybe Ariel and Eric switch places. Like a boy is the Little Mermaid, or should I say the Little Merman."

"Really?" He questioned.

"Yeah that would amazing!" She smiled and yelled.

He laughed, "It would be amazing if there were actually mermaids and mermen."

"You have a no idea," she whispered to herself.

"What?" He asked.

She rapidly replied, "Nothing! So do you want to do it in first person, in the merman's perspective?"

"Yeah, great idea, Kate! I can't wait to start writing!" He smiled.

She beamed, "I can't wait either."

They smiled for a moment before getting back to the project.
