2.03 Saving

Kate waited patiently in English, tapping her pencil on her desk.

"What are you so worried about?" Jamie whispered to Kate.

Kate turned to her right to tell Jamie what was bugging her, "The fairytale project. Ash and I worked really hard on it."

Jamie shrugged, "Luke and I did okay."

"What fairytale did you guys do?" Kate questioned.

Jamie answered, "Beauty and Beast. We basically did it in the present where a popular girl helps a nerd and end up falling in love."

"Cool," Kate nodded as Jamie was handed a paper by the teacher.

Jamie spoke, "Got a B. Some grammar mistakes."

The teacher handed Kate the paper and spoke, "Very proud of you and Mr. Watsford's work."

Kate flipped the paper over to find 100% circled with red pen and a note that said lovely descriptions.

She smiled as Ash walked over to her, "Did you see our grade?"

"Yeah 100 pretty cool," Kate gleamed at him.

Ash shrugged, "Probably because of your awesome writing."

"Oh stop it," Kate blushed.

Ash talked, "It was like you actually went swimming in the ocean, in the deep."

"Uh.. Well I went scuba diving once in Florida. It was beautiful," she lied perfectly.

He nodded, "Must have been."

"If you want to see something like it," she smiled, "Try the coral reefs around here. I've heard it's amazing here."

Ash smirked, "Then how about you join me?"

"I can't, sorry," Kate shook her head, "I've heard there are some sharks around here."

Ash laughed, "Really? Sharks? That is your best excuse."

"I'm serious," Kate lied and nodded her head, "Jaws scared the crap out of me. It was a horrible idea to watch it on the plane ride here."

Ash chuckling continued, "Well when you get over your fear of Jaws, will you promise to join me?"

Kate lied once more, "Of course."

Kate was swimming to Mako, just to relax from a hard day of school. She glazing at the reefs and smiled as swam slowly. But she stopped and hid behind a piece of coral. In the distance, a boat laid on the ocean top. A swimmer below it. The swimmer wore a bathing suit, with goggles and flippers on their feet. The face seemed familiar to Kate. It was Ash. It was sweet that he agreed with her idea to go snorkeling. She smiled at him and leaned against the hard, coral. But she noticed him, start to panic. He had seen a shark near him. He swam up but he stopped. His head smashed into the boat. He started to drift down. Kate swam towards him, using all the power she could. Before he could touch the bottom of the ocean floor, Kate picked him up. Her tail moved back and forth as she swam up to his boat. She felt cool air against her skin. Kate pulled him over onto the boat. She breathed rapidly and look at Mako. Kate heard a mumble. He was waking up. Kate quickly dove under. Hopefully she was in time for him not to see anything. But she was wrong. He saw her tail.
