It's the next morning and I'm walking through the streets, trying to get some inspiration for a new song. I have my notebook with me and look around, taking in the nature around me. The birds are already playing their songs and the cold breeze brushes my skin. I take in a deep breath and write some lyrics down.
Just when I have found my peace, I hear people screaming my name and running towards me. I turn around and see a bunch of paparazzi and fans coming my way.
Shit.
I shut my notebook and give it a run, trying to shake the paparazzi off of me.
I may be an introvert, but even extroverts will hate it if people with cameras run after you.
I have reached my twin's house and rush in. I lock the door behind me and lean against it, trying to stable my breathing.
I think I've had my workout for today.
Ian walks in with a nut bar in his hand. He looks confused at me. "Paparazzi?" he asks, taking a bite from his nut bar. I nod my head and walk into the studio.
My twin brother and I have an own studio in our houses. It's much easier, because when we have inspiration for a song, we don't have to go to the company every time.
I switch the computer on and the login appears on the screen. I type in the password and create a new track. I start the melody I had in mind and it actually sounds really cool and in no time I have the base of the song.
Someone knocks on the door. I invite them in with a "Come in" without turning my gaze away from the screen before me and the door opens slowly.
Millie walks into the room and shuts the door behind her, gently. She sits on the couch behind me and watches how I create a new song.
She's quiet and for a moment I forget someone's in the same room as I am.
That changes when I hear her move off the couch, standing next to me to get a better look at the screen. I look at her face, trying to get a reaction out of it.
"So?" I ask, awaiting for her answer.
"It sounds really good. I think this will be a banger," Millie answers, amaze filling her eyes. I shoot her a smile in return, glad that she likes the song.
"It's lunch time. You want to join us or are you in your flow and work a little more? Should I send Ian over so he can help you?" Millie suggests.
I mean, I'm kinda hungry, but I do am in my flow. And I definitely can use some help right now.
"Yes, that would be great. I can use some help," I confess, looking back at the screen in front of me. I didn't realize I was already working on this song for 2 hours now.
"I'll send him here. I'll also get some food for you guys, so you wouldn't starve." The girl next to me shoots me a wink and walks out of the room, ready to get Ian and the food for me.
I'm lucky with such friends as them.
Not one minute later, the slightly older boy walks in with two plates with waffles with syrup on them. I get excited and jump a little up and down in my chair, clapping my hands lightly. Ian giggles and gently places the two plates on the desk.
The boy sits next to me in the other chair and looks at the screen with the new track exposed. "Play it."
~~~
After 2 other hours of working, we are done with the instrumental part. It came out really good, though. As Millie stated, it can be a new hit.
Just as I forgot our two other friends were still here, the two of them come in the room and sit on the couch, patiently waiting for us to play the track to them.
"So, what are you waiting for? Play the song," Paddy screams out, falling backwards on the couch.
Ian puts on the track from the beginning and we listen to the melody playing through the room.
I watch our friends' faces, anxiously waiting to see any excitement in their eyes.
I don't have to wait long, because when the beat increases, they start to nod their heads to the music and listen in amusement.
I look over to Ian whose already looking at me. He gives me an encouraging smile. I smile back and let myself get taken over by the beat, falling back into my chair.
When the music is over, Paddy and Millie clap their hands and smile brightly.
"That was so good! I bet when you add the lyrics, it will become a great new hit," Millie squeaks out. I laugh at her excitement, feeling happy my friends like the new song.
"Talking about lyrics, I came up with some." I hand my notebook over to Ian, who starts to read the lyrics I wrote this morning.
Once he's finished, he nods his head. "This is good, Kiki, let's try it."
And that's how the day proceeds.
~~~
It's 1:24 am and Ian and I are finally done with the lyrics. Paddy and Millie have gone home by now and we are still in the studio, joined by two bowls which were filled with noodles some hours ago and some empty coca cola cans.
Ian yawns and stretches in his chair, being tired of working. "Let's record the song tomorrow. I'm too tired now and I think if we will record it now my voice won't cooperate," my twin explains, shutting and opening his eyes from time to time to keep him awake for some minutes longer.
"Agreed." I shut off the computer and collect the bowls and cans. "You can stay in the guest room tonight, so you won't have to go home now and we can start directly in the morning," Ian suggests.
I nod my head, too tired to say more words.
When the place looks clean enough, I head upstairs to the bathroom, making myself ready to sleep. When I'm done, I walk into the guest room and let myself fall on the bed. As soon as I lay comfortable, I fall asleep.
