You tend to miss people more when there is distance between you and that those people (or person). For instance, though I never intend to, I often forget to thank my parents for all they do for me that I can never return in full. When I was away from them even for a few days, I realized how important their existence in my life is, and how momentous of a role they have played in shaping my intuition, morals, and character. They are truly also my idols.
