You can preach until your voice is hoarse, but if you preach to a person whose ears are clamped shut with their hands and refuses to listen, your words will rarely ever have a lasting or imposing effect on the recipient. Repetition is fruitless if someone shuts out the articulations of others altogether, for people usually cannot adjust the ways of a person who plainly never leaves himself or herself susceptible to variation or negotiation. Change the subject of your discussion when speaking with a person who is unwilling to heed you, or don't talk to them at all. There's no point engaging in a conversation with someone who won't understand you, and probably won't forever.
