The next morning Elena sat down at the table and glanced over at her mother who looked furious. “Mother is something wrong? I thought you would be happy since I’m getting married today.”
Her mouth pressed into a hard line. “No you are not.” Mrs. Vandus handed her the tablet.
Elena read the headline ‘Mr. Prefect isn’t what he seems.’ Scrolling down she saw the video link and clicked on it. The screen showed Thomas getting a lap dance to which he looked very happy. “This is reporter Anne Heart and it would seem Thomas Hatherns isn’t exactly the “perfect son” everyone thinks he is,” she the reporter. “We heard news that Thomas Hathern was here on the night before his wedding drunk and spill about what he really thinks of his fiancé Elena Vandus.”
The reported moved to sit next to Thomas. He looked annoyed and sent the stripper away. Anne smiled. “So Mr. Hathern what are you doing here? The night life is normally your brothers seen.”
Thomas huffed. “Well if you were going to marry the very stuck up Elena Vandus wouldn’t you want to get a little action before it was too late?”
“Then why are you marrying her?” Anne asked. “You two seem like the perfect couple.”
He took a big swig from his beer. “Elena is a good girl I guess. She’s sweet and innocent. She does everything she’s told but what man wants to marry a woman who has no curves? No sex appeal? Besides the only reason we’re getting married is because the Hathern’s and Vandus’s family have been wanting to join. Elena is only a title to me.”
Anne looked surprised. “Do you think Elena feels the same?”
“Who gives a damn?” Thomas waved his hand and stripper came and sat down in his lap. “Now if you would leave so I can enjoy this woman.”
“Well there you have it. Thomas Hathern not the son everyone thought he was. We’ll see if there is still a wedding tomorrow.”
The video ended and Elena looked up to her mother. “Well I guess that ends that.” She shook her head. “I never would have thought in a million years Thomas would do something like that.”
Suddenly the door burst open and Thomas stood there panting with a security guard trying to drag him back. “Sorry Mrs. Vandus he slipped past us,” he said.
Thomas ignored the big man. “Elena listen to me that wasn’t true. I have no idea how I got there but I don’t mean any of it. I was drunk and…”
“Exactly you were drunk and if that didn’t look bad enough you had the guts to pull that crap the night before our wedding.” Elena shook her head. “I can’t believe you.”
“It was my brother. He dragged me there. Brad doesn’t want me to marry you and that was his way of trying to stop the wedding.”
“Brad wouldn’t do that. Him and I haven’t always seen eye to eye but he wouldn’t do that to me and it doesn’t matter. It wouldn’t matter if he really took you there which he didn’t since he was spotted all over town last night but you were the one who said those things.” She crossed her arms. “You said you didn’t want to marry me that I was stuck up and I was only a title to you. That was you not Brad.”
“I didn’t mean it. I was scared.” Thomas reached for her but she jerked away from him.
“Just stop it. You’re not fooling anyone with your sorry act. You can say you’re sorry a million times but it won’t matter. I’ll never marry you. I’m just glad I found this side of you before I married you.” She turned her back to him. “Now I suggest you leave before I ask Mr. Smith to escort you out with any means needed.”
