“Mask,” said the man. “If you wish to enter then you must take a mask Miss.” He smiled kindly at her and held out the mask for her again.
Elena had had enough of home. She had heard of a place called Haven for years. It was a place where you could go and do anything you wanted and no one would know who you were. The only rule was you had to wear a mask.
She had wanted to go ever since she had heard of it and after the dinner party Elena knew she could finally slip out and no one would notice.
“Oh thank you.” Elena smiled and took the mask. She made her way down the hall and was taken into a small room.
The room was clearly a makeup room. There was a chair with a mirror. All shades of makeup where lane out and Elena felt as if she was back home. Then the door opened and a man stepped through. He was short with blond hair and blue eyes. He looked at her and smiled. “Well what do we have here? This must be your first time.”
Elena nodded. “Yes.”
“Well my name is Micah and I will be your stylist for the night though feel free to call on me any other time you come back,” Micah said.
“Well to tell the trust I just came tonight to see what it’s like here.”
Micah smiled. “Well then I hope you do enjoy.”
Elena watched as Micah worked. He was very talkative and quick. But best of all Elena liked how little makeup Micah used. She could see her real self in the mirror and smiled.
“I take it you like?” He grinned.
“Yes normally I’m covered in makeup,” she explained.
“Well then let’s get you something to wear.” Micah opened another door and disappeared for a moment but came back with a pair of white shorts and a black shirt.
It was plain and simple but Elena smiled. Never in her life had she ever been able to wear pants or shorts. Micah let her dress. “I hope you like it. I figured you never get to dress so casual.”
“I love it,” she replied. “I think you knew exactly what I needed.”
“Well that is my job.” He handed her a pair of black high heel tennis shoes. “So why not enjoy?”
Elena thanked him and was about to leave when he handed her another mask. “Here this one works better.” He tied the white silk mask around her head and sent her out the door.
Walking out Elena gasped as she saw the garden. It was huge. As she walked she saw people all wearing masks but she ignored them. She was in a large building with a domed ceiling. There were buildings in front of her and an amusement park to her right. The flood was cobble stone as if they were back in the eighth century. Slowly she made her way to the left to a hedge. There was an opening and she followed it.
Down the tunnel it opened out to a small field that over looked a small pond. It was beautiful and Elena sat down on the grass to look over the view. All she could see was rolling green hills and the pound. She ignored the swing bench wanting to sit on grass for once.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” asked a voice.
Elena turned to see a man standing next to the swing. He was tall with broad shoulders. He wore a white v neck shirt and jeans. His hair was brown and he had striking green eyes that had a hint of gray. He was attractive, very attractive Elena thought. His gray mask made his eyes seem even more powerful.
“It is,” she replied. “If this is where you like to come to be alone I’ll leave.” She moved to leave but he stopped her.
“I would never make a beautiful woman leave if she was enjoying herself.” He flashed her a smile. “May I join you?”
