saphrona sat in her study, reading a book of the vale's history in her past time when godfrey entered her room, "lady saphrona, you have a visitor."

that never meant anything good to saphrona. she looked up from her reading and took her reading glasses off, "well let them in, is sir aenor back from his hunt?" she asked.

aenor had left on an expedition to hunt some of the vale's famous mountain rams and was due to be back that day or the morning after.

"no lady saphrona, this is a...different guest." godfrey sighed as he let daemon targaryen walk through the door of the study.

daemon smiled at the dark headed woman as he sat in a chair in front of her desk. "prince daemon, to what do i owe the pleasure?" she asked.

daemon smiled that cheshire grin at the woman before him. "well, i am here to see how you are settling into the post of head of the vale, seeing as it has been quite some time." he offered.

saphrona laughed and shook her head. "i haven't even been here a year daemon. it's been six months. what really brings you to the vale?" she asked, knowing there was an underlying reason.

daemon looked the woman over. her black hair was wavy and half up/half down. she wore a blue patterned long sleeve dress, she looked beautiful in his eyes.

"well lady saphrona, if you must know the gory details, lady rhea has passed. i was sent back to the vale after some trouble in king's landing, a couple weeks upon returning lady rhea took a ride and her horse threw her, a tragic accident." daemon explained, he was hardly sad but saphrona knew he had always hated her cousin.

"ah, so you want to hide out at eyrie until it is safe for you to return home?" the woman laughed at her old friend. she probably did not want to know the trouble he got into, so she did not ask.

daemon grinned at the woman. she knew him too well, but also he realized he had neglected his promise to a good friend. saphrona needed him, and the more he thought of it, he needed her as well.

the two continued to catch up and talk, when a little head of black hair ran through the room and into saphrona's skirts. the little boy was the perfect mixture of his two parents. he had saphrona's dark complexion and long black hair, but his face was all killian.

"kassian baratheon, meet your father's best friend and mine as well, prince daemon targaryen." saphrona smiled down at the newly turned four year old. her child was savage, just like her and his hair was a complete tangled mess.

kassian bowed at the prince. "i'm kassian baratheon, and one day i'm gonna be a storm king like my dad!" he shouted as his mother pulled him into her lap.

daemon couldn't help but laugh at saphrona being a mother. she braided her son's hair expertly as he continued to ramble on about the ravens, his lessons with godfrey, and cousin aenor. as soon as saphrona let him go, he sprinted out of the room and off onto another adventure.
