a raven arrived at eyrie, it had been from rhaenys. daemon usually did not care about the gossip they carried on about, so he took the scroll straight to his wife. he didn't expect it to be much.

saphrona sat at her desk as usual, reading books and documents. daemon had noticed his wife was on a history kick as of late, she wanted to know a deeper history of the vale. the stuff she didn't learn when she was a child.

he stared at her for awhile as she read, before knocking on her door frame. "darling, a letter from rhaenys." he held it out to her as he sat in her chair and crossed one leg over the other.

saphrona grabbed the letter and straightened her glasses. "that's very odd. rhaenys never writes to me." she remarked before breaking the seal.

daemon watched his wife's features change into shock as she read the letter. now he was curious, what was this letter about? and then it dawned on him exactly what it was about.

saphrona looked up at her husband. "your brother is dead, and aegon is king." she simply stated, beyond shock. she could not believe this was her reality right now.

daemon immediately sprung to action. "well we need to make battle plans. rhaenyra needs to start allying herself, getting ahold of people who swore to her. this is how we win against the greens." he began cynically planning, pacing the floor. he looked like a madman.

saphrona could not handle it at this moment. "you are doing no such thing. rhaenyra's husband can do that for her. you are my husband." the woman stood her ground.

daemon scoffed, throwing his arms up. "so lady saphrona what do you suggest we do?" he asked with his eyebrows raised.

saphrona quirked an eyebrow of her own and smirked. "you forget i am the sole ruler of the vale. let rhaenyra come to me and ask me for her support. i am not involving myself until i have to." she crossed her arms and her decision was final.

daemon could not believe his wife. the two of them had two of the most capable dragon riders. deacon was a trained warrior, and so was kassian. dayana could more than hold her own. their children were made for this.

however, saphrona could not believe her husband. in the vale, her children were safe. kassian was at storm's end also safe. no drama, no politicking, but there was peace.

daemon threw his arms into the air as he walked out of her study and he began to walk to where the dragons stayed near. he would ride caraxes to dragon stone to pledge his loyalty to his niece. and although he hated to admit it, he was itching for a war. it was exciting, fresh, and full of fire. his adrenaline was through the roof.
