There's one thing Kathleen hated more than anything, and that was her parents leaving the state. They both would be going to New York and she was not too fond of that. Not only is she going to be alone with her little brother but her elderly grandma is staying with them.
Kathleen loves her grandma but she needs to be in a nursing home because she's the right age and she forgets things.
To make things much easier for her grandma Kathleen leaves Alex her little brother with the LaRusso's. They have always told her she can stay with them whenever she likes too, so she takes her little brother with them and she stays with her grandma.
The LaRusso's have been such a good help to her. She leaves Alex with them and she stays with her grandmother so she won't have to be alone in the huge home.
If anything she's alone because her grandmother sleeps most of the time.

"Mom, I'm telling you she needs to go," Kathleen tells her mother over the phone. "She doesn't know the difference between the toilet and the couch. I swear she almost took a shitter on the couch."
"Kat honey I'm about to reach the airport. Can we talk once I land?" Her mother Kim scolded.
"Mom, please don't do this. I can take care of myself. I've been doing it forever. Gran is just here, just to be here. Mom, please." Kathleen pleaded.
Her mother took a while to answer back, "Fine. I'll call somebody to take care of it. But I'm trusting you to take care of your brother as well. He can't always stay with the Larusso's."
Kathleen squealed. " Yes! I promise. Thank you mom."
After the phone call Kathleen walked down the stairs to enter the Kitchen where her little brother was eating his cereal. She kissed his head and grabbed a bowl herself to make her breakfast.
"Do you want to go with the LaRusso's? Anthony has a new game?" Kathleen told her little brother.
"Yes. He called last night. Said he ordered it with his dads card." Her little brother Alex responded.
"You do know you can't be doing what he does right? That kid is messed up. You aren't a brat like that alright?"
"I know but they don't tell him anything though."
"Yeah well because he still wouldn't listen. You tell that kid one thing and it goes out the other ear." Kathleen rolled her eyes saying that.
The LaRusso's baby that kid too much. Don't get Kathleen wrong, she loves Anthony but he needs some discipline. She just hopes her little brother won't turn out like him.
"Alright go ahead and get ready I'll drop you off and I'll deal with grandma." Kathleen ruffled her little brother's hair.
Once Alex left the kitchen Kathleen walked around the house searching for her grandmother.
It took her about 10 minutes to find her because she was way out back in the garden past the pool. She's just relieved she didn't stumble in.
"Hey grandma, what are you doing out here?" Kathleen has always been told to speak to her in a low voice. She thinks whenever someone speaks up, they're yelling and being rude to her.
"Oh honey, just admiring these roses your mother planted. Aren't they so beautiful?" Her grandmother told her but looking at the roses the whole time.
"Yeah, they're gorgeous. How about we go inside, have a cup of coffee and watch Jerry Springer?" Kathleen gently grabbed her grandmother's arm and led her inside.
"I love him so much. He is so messy. He lets them do all that fighting and arguing." Her grandmother said laughing.
"Yes I know grandma."
Kathleen had put her grandmother down to watch tv and made her coffee. She sat with her till 20 minutes later someone knocked on the door.
"Hey I'm here for Catherine Parker?" A man dressed in a white suit said.
"Yeah come on in. She's just in the parlor."
Kathleen led two men to her grandmother. Who was already standing up.
"Grandma, are you okay? What's wrong?" Kathleen asked her grandmother who was just standing watching the tv.
"I knew this day was coming up eventually. Time for someone to take care of me." She turned around and faced the three people in the room.
"Grandma-"
"It's okay baby. You're old enough to take care of yourself." Her grandmother held on onto her arms smiling at her. Then turned to the two men in the room. "Now are you ready boys?"
"Yes ma'am. We have a van waiting for you out front." One of the men said.
"Okay. Goodbye baby." Catherine looked over Kathleen's shoulder and seen Alex. She went over to him and hugged him. She muttered something to him and Kathleen couldn't really hear her.

After seeing the van drive away from Kathleen's driveway, she took herself and her little brother to the LaRusso's house. She spent her time with Sam in her room till Yasmine called them and told them she and Moon were outside Sam's house. Kathleen didn't know where they were going but she didn't mind. She sat behind Yasmine and Sam sat behind Moon.
"Yas I don't think you should be on your phone while driving." Sam said to the girl.
"It's fine. No one's out here at this time." Yasmine argued back.
"Yeah come on Sam. It's fine. No one's out here at this time. Well only if you're drunk." Kathleen told her friend.
"Or homeless." Moon commented.
"Yas I'm serious-" Sam couldn't finish her sentence because Yasmine crashed her car into another one.
"Oh my god."
"Yasmine, I told you, you shouldn't be on your phone." Sam stated.
" What are we going to do, guys? What are we going to do?" Moon said scared.
"We have to call the police." Sam responded back.
" We can't. My parents will kill me." Yasmine said to the girl.
Then a man who looked homeless slammed onto Moon's window. Making the girls all scream. He moved to Sam's side and she moved closer to Kathleen scared.
"Drive! Yasmine drive!" Exclaimed Kathleen.

After the whole accident with Yasmine and her car. Kathleen got to Sam's house and went home. Alex wanted to spend the night with Anthony so she went home alone. This was her first time ever being alone without another person in the house. She still felt alone when her grandmother was with her but today she felt truly alone. That's how she liked it. No one bothers her or tells her what to do.
She started to realize if being friends with Yasmine would get her into so much trouble. Maybe if she didn't go out with her she wouldn't have been in that wreck. Sooner or later she knew she would have to leave her little group but she didn't have anyone else.
Kathleen didn't have friends so being with Yasmine was all she had.
One thing about Kat was that she hated being left. One has ever left her but they would ignore her and that was just horrible for her.
She can't imagine anyone she's ever loved to leave her forever. That is a pain she never wants to experience.
