After Rose had spent the night she spent another and then once she adn Ginny woke up, they realized she had to go that morning. She had sent Oliver a letter with Erol to ask about hanging out with him, and he shockingly said yes. So, the only reason that Rose was leaving was to hang out with Oliver. But before she would leave, she had to get some of Mrs. Weasley's amazing breakfast.
"Good morning, dear. How did the two of you sleep? Anyways, breakfast is ready. Ron is already in there, but the twins haven't came down yet, would you like to get them Rose?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"Sure," Rose said. She then headed up the stairs to wake the twins up. She knew that the twins sometimes were not morning people, so it wasn't a shock to her that they weren't awake yet. Once she reached their bedroom, she opened the door as quietly as possible. "Are you two up yet, or do I have to wake you up myself?" she asked, but she noticed that the beds seemed empty. Seconds after that realization, she was wrapped in a pair of arms and being dragged onto one of their beds, which she assumed was George's. "Hey, that's not fair."
"Whatever could you mean? It's all fair and game. You're the one who came in here, aren't you?" George asked. "I hear that Oliver owled you back, and the two of you are going to be hanging out. I hope it goes well," George said and he said something else that she couldn't quite hear, but she didn't question it.
"Well, the only reason I came was because your mum sent me to grab you and Fred for breakfast," said Rose. "Where is Fred, by the way? I didn't see him coming up here."
"Oh, he's already downstairs, I guess mum didn't see him when she told you to come up here, but I knew that she would send you up to get us, so I stayed and wanted to scare you a bit. But I don't think that I scared you, it seems you like the position we're in," he said smugly.
Rose didn't even realize, but the two of them were so close she could feel his breath on her cheeks, which made her blush and push him off of her. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize," said Rose in a rushed tone.
George just laughed and said, "Don't worry about it. You weren't harming anything. Anyways, I think we should head down there before they get any ideas as to what we're doing up here."
"Yeah, you're right," Rose said while standing up. "By the way, don't scare me like that again."
"No promises," George said with a playful smirk on his face.
"I'm serious, Georgie," Rose said with a stern tone, but was trying to hide the smile that was forming on her face.
"Ok, fine," George said with a fake defeated sound in his tone.
At that, the two just laughed and started to head downstairs for breakfast. Rose didn't realize how hungry she was until she actually sat down and ate. Let's just say, she ate a little too much, like usual.
"Thank you so much for the breakfast, Miss. Molly. It was delicious as always," Rose said while taking her dish to the sink to wash.
"You're welcome dear, and don't worry about washing that. You're our guest here, you shouldn't have to wash the dishes," Mrs. Weasley said to Rose.
"Oh, it's quite already, Miss. Molly, I can do it," Rose said. It took Rose a minute to clean and dry her dish, and after she did, she went up to Ginny's room to pack her things up to take home. The twins would be bringing her back to her home, but soon after she got back she'd be heading back out with Oliver. She was nervous about the date, because she had a feeling that it would go poorly.
Before she could think another thought, this weird sensation came over her and it was like she wasn't in her own body, but looking out at it, but it wasn't in Ginny's room anymore. She was watching her and Oliver in the quidditch locker room, but the feeling about them was tense and unsettling. Then, that's when Rose noticed that Alicia Spinnet was also there with an evil smirk on her face. Rose then realized that Oliver had disheveled hair and Alicia was missing her top. This was a vision of Oliver cheating on her, in the quidditch locker room.
As soon as it happened it faded away, but Rose wasn't the only one in Ginny's room anymore. It seemed that a very concerned looking George, Fred, Ginny, Ron, and Mrs. Weasley were also in the room.
"What happened? Are you alright? I was just coming in here to see how you were packing and I found you unconscious on the floor. You were out for about 20 minutes," Ginny said.
"I don't know what happened. All I know is that one minute I was up and then now. I didn't feel anything indicating that I would pass out," Rose said, but she gave Ginny a look to try and tell her that it was a vision.
Ginny got the message, thankfully, and said, "Weird, well do you feel alright now?"
"Yeah, but I never felt bad, it's weird," Rose said. "George, you look like you've seen a ghost are you alright? I don't mean to worry you."
George didn't say anything, but he did come down to Rose's eye level to inspect her. Once he saw nothing wrong he just grabbed her hand and squeezed it and said, "You're sure you're alright? You really scared me. Ginny came running downstairs saying you fainted and to come up here. We didn't get a chance to tell your Gran, but we figured you wouldn't want us to."
"Thank you for not telling her. I don't want to worry her more than I already do," Rose said with a little laugh.
"Well, I guess we should be heading to your house now, but if this happens again I need you to let us know you hear me," Fred said.
Rose had never heard him so concerned before, but she said, "Alright, I will, don't worry. I figure we should start heading out now so my Gran doesn't worry too much."
"You're right, but be careful alright? We can't have this happen when we're all in Egypt and you're here by yourself," George said with a joking look, but she knew he was dead serious.
"Right, but I can't promise anything," Rose said in a joking manner.
"I got your trunk, so let's head out," Fred said.
Rose, George, and Fred all began to head downstairs to the fireplace, because it was faster and since Rose needed to go and get ready to go out with Oliver. Fred went first and Rose and George followed soon after.
"It looks like Gran's out with her other friends because she left this note saying 'Gone out with friends, don't worry dear. Also, be safe with Oliver when you go out.'. Also, Fred you can leave that right there, I can take it upstairs," Rose said, but before she got the words out Fred was already up the stairs.
"Rose, I need you to promise me to be careful with Oliver today. I can't have anything happening to you, I would go after him if anything bad happened because of him," George said with all seriousness.
"Don't worry Georgie, nothing is going to happen. If it does, I'll head straight to the Burrow to let you know, ok? I don't want you to worry about me too much," Rose said reaching for his hand to squeeze for reassurance.
"It's hard to not worry about someone that I genuinely care about, Rose, but I'll try not to worry too much. Owl me as soon as you get home with every detail from the day. I want to know if he hurts you," George said.
"I will. Fred, make sure your twin doesn't worry too much about me today, would you?" Rose asked as she noticed Fred making his way down the stairs.
"Can do, ma'am. It shall be a hard task, but I shall manage," Fred said in a joking manner.
"Why thank you," Rose said in the same tone, but George didn't look so amused. "George, don't give me that look. I mean the pout makes you look even more adorable, but we can't have you pouting, now can we?"
George just blushed and tried not to smile when he said, "But you're putting Fred in charge of me. I guess I can stop, since Rosie called me adorable." George then broke out in a smile along with Rose and Fred.
"Alright, I guess we better head out now so you can get dressed. Now, if anything happens you better let George here know," Fred said.
"I will, don't you worry," Rose said.
After that, Fred used Floo Powder to go back to the Burrow and George hung back to give Rose a hug before he then parted ways from her. Rose then headed up the stairs so she can get ready for the date with Oliver. Ever since that vision she had at the Burrow, she's had a bad feeling about this whole date. It did seem to be during the school year, but it didn't ease her worry any less.
After Rose had gotten ready, she layed in her bed for a minute before hearing a knocking sound coming from the front door. So, Rose rose from her bed and headed downstairs to let Oliver in.
"Hello, Rose, how are you doing?" Oliver asked as he entered the house.
"Hi, and I'm fine, yourself?" Rose asked. She could feel the tension and could probably slice it with Godric Gryffindor's sword.
"I'm good as well. Are you ready to head out? I have a nice spot picked out in Hogsmeade, which you can probably guess is the Three-Broomsticks," Oliver said.
Rose wasn't surprised that he would choose the Three-Broomsticks, but it was still dumb in her personal opinion, "I'm ready, yeah, lets go."
They both took floo powder and were going to Floo to Hogsmeade. Rose went first and then was soon followed by Oliver.
Once they entered the Three-Bromsticks, they were greeted by the waiter, "Hello, what would the two of you like to order?"
"I'll take a butterbeer and beef pasties please," Rose said politely to the waiter.
"I'll have a butterbeer and fish and chips," Oliver said.
"Alright, I'll get that straight out for you," the waiter said.
The two of them sat there in an uncomfortable silence, until Rose spoke up and asked, "So, what are the plans for quidditch this year?"
"Well, I plan to have, obviously, the twins in beater position, because they're the best we have in the entire Gryffindor house. For keeper position it'll obviously be me and seeker will be Harry. For chaser I'll have Katie, Angelina, and Alicia as starter, since they're the best on the team, no offense to you. I'm not saying that you aren't good, but you don't satisfy my expectation for the position. Alicia's just better than you will ever be, but don't take offense to that, Alicia is extraordinary" Oliver said matter-of-factly.
Rose didn't know how to respond to that, but she said, "Well, I figured you would at least play me a little this year. I mean for Godric's sake, I am your girlfriend. But, you're in-charge and I can't do anything about it," Rose said, trying not to lash out at him. She knew he only cared about winning, but if he didn't play her, they wouldn't win. She's saw it herself, in a vision.
"I said not to take offense. It's my team and I see what's fit to be, since I'm captain. Alicia wouldn't complain to me about my plan," Oliver said with a tone that Rose couldn't figure out.
"Well, maybe I'm not Alicia. If I were you, I would stop talking about her to me and just drop it entirely or else I'm done with us," Rose said with a hint of anger.
Before Oliver could reply to that, the waiter came back with their food and said, "Here you are, I hope you enjoy!"
After the waiter left, there was nothing but tense silence and a lot of silence. It was like the mice quit running around and a pin could be heard if it was dropped.
"Well, are you excited to be in your final year of Hogwarts?" Rose said, just trying to diffuse the tension.
"Yes and no. I hope to have a good quidditch season and make it to the professional league after school, but NEWTS are this year for me. I guess I might need to focus on those, but quidditch is always the top priority" Oliver said.
"I'd focus on my grades, if I were you. What if you don't make the professional league? Then what will you do?" Rose asked.
"Well, then I guess I'll have to find something that doesn't require schooling," Oliver said. "What do you plan to do after you leave?"
"Oliver, I've told you before that I want to do either healing or teaching. I find passion in both fields of study," Rose said.
"What about quidditch? I thought you liked it?"
"Oh, I do, but if I can't play then no scout will ever see me play. If I ever play and a scout comes, then maybe I'd like to try it, but I want to mainly focus on my education," Rose said, letting anger seep into her words.
"I've noticed. Maybe you should be practicing more and then you'll be as good as Alicia," Oliver said, completely oblivious to Rose's anger.
"Or, maybe, just maybe, you should actually let me play to see how I really play instead of comparing me to Alicia, which by the way, I thought there wasn't anything going on between the two of you? Or was that a lie to get me off your tail?" Rose asked, the anger rising more within her.
"Actually, I think you need to control yourself. I mean come on Rose, how many times do I have to tell you that there is nothing going on between us? I mean honestly, have some faith in me. I have plenty of faith in you to not go around and cheat on me, so I expect the same," Oliver said.
Rose rose from her seat and simply said, "Fine, but this date is over. I'm going home and you should do the same, and maybe go tell Alicia about it. It might make you happier to be with her than me anyways. Go talk strategy and quidditch with Alicia so you won't hear a single complaint. I'll write you later, and I'll see you at 9 ¾. Here's the money for the food." Rose threw the money on the table and left the pub with a dumbfounded Oliver Wood staring at her in disbelief.
Rose thought, 'Why do I bother with him, it's obvious he doesn't love me anymore, but maybe it's just one fight. It'll be better by the next term.' But Rose doubted that thought, because she thought of just ending it in that pub, but every day, she keeps thinking of ending this toxic relationship.George POV
"Freddie, I have a bad feeling about this date Rose has with Wood. I mean, he's not good for her! That may be my jealousy speaking, but I don't like him one bit. You've seen how Wood and Alicia talk to each other and hang out. I want to tell her about the times I found them in the broom closet snogging, but I'm afraid to tell her," George said with concern to his twin.
"Georgie, maybe if you told her not only about Wood, but the fact that you like her, she'd leave him and I know that she would come to you for comfort and I know for a fact that the two of you would be together," Fred said.
"I can't do that to her. I can't admit my feelings for her, at least not yet. I want what's best for her, because I care for her too much to ruin that happiness. Wood isn't the source of that happiness though, because she told me that she was starting to catch feelings for someone else. She didn't tell me who, but whoever it is, is one lucky bloke," George said in a tone of sadness, which Fred heard.
"Listen, I know you like her, but you can't keep doubting yourself and how she may like you back. Now, about the Wood thing, I have a bad feeling as well. I can feel it within me that something is going bad because she said they would be out at this time," Fred said. "I know she said that it would be fine and she would let us know, but I have a fear she won't come to us."
"Thanks, Freddie, that makes me feel loads better," George said with so much sarcasm that even the most oblivious person would've picked it up.
"I'm just speaking what's on my mind, George. I just think we should do something to take this off of our minds. How about coming up with more pranks for the coming school year?" Fred asked.
This immediately lifted George's mood and he said, "Freddie, you've read my mind."
The twins worked on the pranks for an hour, but as they were coming up with a prank for Crabbe and Goyle, they heard a loud commotion downstairs. They didn't think much of it, because Ron tended to be very clumsy, but then they heard their Mum start talking. The twins looked at each other and then subconsciously thought, 'It must be Rose.'Rose POV
Once Rose got to the Floo Networks in Hogsmeade, she called out for the Burrow. She had been crying and running to the Floo Network. She needed George and part of her hated that, but mainly she didn't care, because deep down George would always treat her better than Oliver would. As soon as Rose got back to the Burrow, she tripped coming out of the fireplace and fell on her leg. She cried out in pain, but pushed it off and tried to make it to the living room.
"Rose? Dear, what's wrong?" Mrs. Weasley asked, but then she noticed her leg and exclaimed, "Oh my! Rose, dear, I think you broke your leg!"
Before Rose could comment she heard a set of footsteps coming down the stairs, and before she could answer Mrs. Weasley she saw the twins in a panic once they laid eyes on her.
"Rose! Are you ok, did Wood do this to you? Oh, I'm going to kill him if he did," George said in a murderous tone, which scared Rose.
"I think it's broken, Mum," Fred said in a tone of panic and concern.
"I do too. Alright, I'll get in touch with your Gran and get a Healer," Mrs. Weasley said, trying to sound calm, but Rose could tell she was deeply concerned.
Once Mrs. Weasley left the room, George came up beside her while Fred went to get Ginny and Ron. "Rose, did he do this to you?" George asked.
"No, but the date went bad. We fought and I left him there. I started crying while leaving and once I got here by the Floo Network, I tripped and broke my leg," Rose said in a defeated tone. George then noticed she was still crying, and cupped her face in his hands, wiping her tears with his thumbs. She smiled, and blushed, and put her hand over-top of his hand.
"It's alright, you're safe now and I'll make sure he knows of this mistake," George said.
Rose just wrapped her arms around him and at some point she drifted off to sleep, because once she woke up she realized that she wasn't in the living room anymore, but she was in George and Fred's room. Once she fully realized where she was, she also realized that George was also asleep beside her, with his arms wrapped around her. Rose tries not to move so she wouldn't wake him up and just enjoy his warmth, but he woke up.
"Good morning?" Rose asked confused.
George laughed and said, "No, it's evening time now, but you fell asleep on the couch, so after the Healer healed your leg I brought you up here to sleep. But I fell asleep too and now it's like 8 o'clock, and don't worry, your Gran knows about you staying here. She said that she'd prefer you to stay here, so it wouldn't affect your leg."
Rose could barely pay attention to what he said, because she couldn't stop admiring his features and how adorable he looked with his bed hair. Rose did pick up the fact that her Gran knew and said, "Ok, I'm glad she knows and is letting me stay. Also, has anyone ever told you how amazing you are?"
George just smiled and blushed and said, "Well, yes, but the best person to tell me that is you."
Rose just smiled and cuddled closer to George and just forgot about her problems for the time being. "George, I think I want to stay in here tonight. I'm too tired to go sleep anywhere else."
"That's fine, you just sleep," George said, but as he said that she was already closing her eyes.
She could feel George hold her closer as she drifted off to sleep and just softly smiled as she said, "Good night, Georgie."
Before she fell asleep she heard him say, "Good night, my Rose of the Valley."
