Today was the day that Rose was to get her firebolt. She had barely slept that night due to excitement and some added stress to her discovery about what Trewlaney had said to her before she headed home. Once she had put her clothes on for the day, the Weasley sweater she had gotten for Christmas and her baggy jeans with a rip at the left knee and her purple Converse, she headed downstairs to the kitchen to see what her Gran had made for breakfast before they left. Once she reached the bottom of the stairs she was hit with the smell of bacon, eggs, and her Gran's homemade pancakes.
Once she reached the kitchen, her Gran greeted her, "Goodmorning Rosette. Did you sleep well last night or did you not sleep due to your excitement?" she asked.
"Good morning Gran, I did get some sleep, but it was enough to suffice me for the day. I can't wait for today!" Rose said with a present tone of excitement.
"I would've never guessed you would be excited. You, not only, get your firebolt today, but also you get to go see George and his family after we get back," Neville said with sarcasm as the head came into the kitchen in his outfit for the day, a forest green sweater and jeans with his black converse.
"Shut up Nev!" she said with a tone of joking. "You're not funny."
"Well, I think I'm hilarious since you are oblivious to almost everything to do with relationships," Neville said matter-of-factly.
"Coming from the guy who likes a certain girl in Hufflepuff," Rose said under her breath so her Gran wouldn't hear, but just enough for Neville to hear.
She noticed his face turn red and gave him a satisfied look. If he can pick on her than she can pick on him.
"Food's done. As soon as we finish we will head to the broom shop in Diagon Alley." her Gran said.
As always, her Gran's food was excellent and as she said, we headed out of the house by floo powder to Diagon Alley. Rose went first and as the flames came around her and she screamed "Diagon Alley" she started swirling and landed on her feet at the entrance of Diagon Alley. Rose always found the alley to be fascinating and filled with a magic aura. Soon after she thought that Neville popped out of the fireplace and her Gran soon followed.
"To the shop, we go!" Rose said with enthusiasm. As they made their way to the shop, Rose spotted new animals in Magical Menagerie and spotted an excited little girl with a new pet tabby cat. She smiled at the sight because she felt the same excitement when she got Franklin, her barn owl. They soon approached the broom shop and as they came through the door, the shop owner saw them and said, "Oh Augusta! It's so good to see you! I know what you're here for and I'll go fetch the broom for you. I'll be back in a minute," the shopkeeper said.
As they waited, Rose picked out another broom cleaning set to add to the bill along with her firebolt. Soon after she came back with the kit the shopkeeper returned with her broom wrapped in a parcel and she beamed with excitement.
"Alright, the total will be 200 galleons and with the kit, it will make the total 212 galleons," the shopkeeper said. Rose pulled out her galleons to give the shopkeeper and Gran pulled hers out to pay the rest. After everything was paid for, Rose took her new broomstick to Flourish and Blotts to get Neville a new Herbology book. Soon as they entered Neville found the book and checked out and they headed back to the fireplace to floo back to the house. The moment she hit the floor of the house, she ran to sit on the living room floor to open the parcel. The firebolt looked marvelous next to her Nimbus 2000 and it was perfect. She wasn't going to let Oliver know about the broom though, because then he would want her to let him "borrow" it but he'd never return it. Once she heard Gran and Neville walk in she said "It's perfect, thank you, Gran!"
"It was my pleasure, I know you will take good care of it just like you've taken care of the Nimbus 2000," her Gran said. "Now, go and pack a bag at Molly's request. She wants you to stay with them tonight and stay into the afternoon on Monday, but you have to be back before nightfall on Monday since we're going to St. Mungos Tuesday to see your mother and father," her Gran added.
Rose froze and then with the brightest smile ran and hugged her Gran, "Thank you, Gran! You're the best Gran a girl could ask for! I'll go pack my things now. Also, before I go will Mrs. Weasley send George to help me carry things or not?" she asked hoping Mrs. Weasley would send George.
"I don't know yet," she said with her mischievous grin.
Rose, now confused, nodded her head and ran to her room to pack. She thought "I'm so excited! Hopefully, I'll know if I can go to Egypt with them tonight when Mr. Weasley gets home." She then put her pj's in her trunk and spare clothes for a quidditch match and for around the house. Franklin was waiting at the window with a letter in his claw. She wasn't expecting a letter from anyone that she knew of, but she took it and gave Franklin some toast. It was from Hermoine and stated:
    Dear Rose,
I hear you're getting your broom soon how exciting! I really can't wait for summer to end to start classes again, but as you already know I have some new books to read for now. I also know about Oliver being a total jerk and if you need to talk to me just owl me and I'll answer as soon as possible. Also, Neville wrote me about the revolution you finally figured your feelings out for George and I must say it took you long enough. Anyways I hope to hear from you soon and have a good summer!
        Love,
            Hermoine
