After my unpleasant interaction with Sophia, I head outside to look around

After my unpleasant interaction with Sophia, I head outside to look around. Levi didn't bring me out here because there isn't really anything to see, but I'm planning to sit somewhere here for lunch since it'll likely be quieter than the cafeteria.

This school is massive; there's over 3,500 students, so the building is large to accommodate them. The outside area is also huge, and happens to be really pretty.

I observe the area as I walk around, looking for the best place to sit. There are some benches outdoors for anyone that does want to sit outside but not on the floor, but I'd rather not sit there. The greenery here is outstanding. The grass is freshly cut and there's an area reserved for growing plants of all types.

I come across a large hazel tree towards the back of the school. Standing under it, I look up at the sunlight breaking through the leaves, casting shadows onto the green below my feet. This seems like the best place to stay for lunch.

Happy with my decision, I take out my phone to check the time. Shit. It's 8:21. Levi told me that there's an assembly in the gym with the whole school. Apparently, the principal wants to say some words to us.

I hurry back inside, hoping there's also others that will arrive a bit late. Thankfully, I managed to find my way to the gym without getting lost. There's also a few other people still walking into the gym. I guess I'm not the only one that came late.

I wait for someone else to open the door before going in. This place is packed. The seats on both sides seem completely full, making it difficult for me to determine where to sit. There are some teachers here, but the principal hasn't arrived yet.

A girl with blonde hair starts walking up the wooden steps, seeming confident in where to go. I follow her, hoping to be lead somewhere with space for me to sit. My luck happens to be terrible. She smiles down at the people on the edge of one of the rows, who all greet her. They seem to be her friends. Among those people is Levi. It seems like everywhere I go, I manage to end up near him.

There doesn't appear to be any room for me in that row, or any do the other rows, so I begin to walk down the stairs until I feel a light tap on my arm. Turning around, I realise it's the blonde I was following. "You can sit here," she says, patting the space beside her.

I nod and give her a small smile, taking a seat beside her. "Thank you," I whisper and she smiles, starting to talk to the girl next to her. Levi looks at me right when my eyes glance over to him. We make eye contact for a few moments before he turns away, staring straight ahead.

I do the same, waiting impatiently for the principal to get here. After about a minute, the principal walks in. He's a short, stubby man with a very punchable face. I've seen photos of him on the school website, and although he may appear to be a kind man, I have a very good feeling that he's a complete asshole.

Leaning back in the seat, I gaze at the ceiling, resisting the urge to fall asleep at the sound of his voice echoing through the room due to the microphone on him.
