Christmas is nearly here, and the city of California is ensuring that no one can forget that.

Almost every store window is decorated in the typical decorations that come out once Thanksgiving is over. Mr. Pierce had Alejandro and I decorate the windows with tinsel and small lights framing them. There's even a small Christmas tree in the back corner of the store.

When I walked into the bakery that Levi works at so we could go Christmas shopping together, I wasn't surprised to see the tinsel hanging on the displays of the various treats.

It wasn't just the shops that were Christmas themed; even the streets were decorated appropriately for the holiday. The middle of the city has lights hanging from one building to another above the main street. The yellow Merry Christmas is shining brightly in the middle, with blue snow flake shaped lights dangling down from either side. There was also a huge Christmas tree adorned with the same coloured lights on the wide pavement.

It'a too bright for the lights to be on, but Levi and I agreed that we would leave once we got to see them shimmer since this is my first Christmas here.

Our first stop is a small music store in towards the edge of the city, the same store where I got Alejandro his guitar pics.

"Do you think getting Rosalie a grade three book is a good idea?" I ask Levi, my fingers running against the spines of the grading books for guitar ranging from one to eight. My plan is to get my sisters and Mom a gift box of various things they could like. "Or maybe two is better."

"Has she started practicing for an exam?"

I shake my head. "She doesn't even have classes yet. She just looks up tutorials online and practices herself. My mom is trying to get her a teacher for January." I try to think back when I was taking exams and the level I started at. I took classes almost immediately after I got a violin, so I started with grade one. From what I've heard from the snippets Rosa has played for me, she could probably skip grade one.

An idea lights up in my head. "I can get her both." I turn to Levi, happy to see a look of agreement on his face. "That way, she can start at grade two. Maybe even three."

He nods, pointing at two books. "These are the ones you're going to get her?" I hum, reaching out to take them.

Levi's hands are faster than mine. He takes the books from the shelf, placing one on top of the other as he places them in the crook of his arm. I frown at him, placing my hand on the books. "You don't have to hold them."

He gently wraps his hand around my wrist, easily moving my hand back down to my side. He tilts his head slightly. "I want to."

He doesn't let me get another word in, heading to the back of the store. From the way he's walking confidently, I can tell a smug grin is on his face. I bite my bottom lip to prevent myself from smiling at his antics, ignoring the slight flutter of my heart at his small gesture.
