XIV- Will

"That is a low life, antipathy, nauseation vermin of the repugnance fiery inferno which is sprang from the devils own soul. Get it out of my face," I grimaced with distaste and disgust.

Rose gave me a pouty face in return and pulled back that abomination and placed it in her lap, stroking its black fur.

"Why don't you like Nosie, you big grump?" She growled at me.

"Because I'm sick to waking up with that satanic rabbit on my chest and its bathroom breaks all over my bedroom floor. It hates me and I hate it," I answered while folding my arms and straightening my jaw.

Rose huffed and cuddled my uncles rabbit like it was her own child. Honestly, how on earth could she possibly like the gruesome, little beast?

"Alright, enough of the rabbit. Put it away and let's get started with the tutoring," I replied while pushing the rabbit cage across the store counter and placing a stack of books in its place. Rose looked wide eyed at the tower of books while putting the rabbit away.

"Ugh. I'm not very good at reading," she frowned. "I don't really like it ether."

"Oh please! Reading is good for the soul! Books are the real magic if you know what I mean," I smiled while opening the first book. Dust shot up from the rotting pages and sparkled in the sunlight as I began to read.

"Lesson 1: Basic Magic Techniques."

Rose slumped against her fist as I began to summarize and explain.

"Now, first thing about magicians is why we are different. We don't use wands like wizards or witches. We don't have an object and contracts and releases our power like warlocks and sorcerers, such as an amulet or talisman. We use the mind as our source of power. Magicians play tricks on the mind. Of course it's much more than simple illusions. Any questions so far?"

I looked up from the book to find Rose snoring away.

"Oh brother," I sighed while slamming the book shut with such force it caused Rose to wake up with a yelp.

"Magicians are always focused!" I added with a louder tone to my voice. "We have to be or the trick doesn't work!"

Ross blinked a couple times, trying to tune into the same station I was at.

"How about an example?" I smiled while placing a quarter in front of her.

She watched me lift up the quarter in front of her eyes as I said, "focus."

Rose gulped as I tossed the quarter in the air. She gazed up realizing their was no quarter coming down.

"What! Where did go!" She gawked.

"I said focus," I sighed. "If you had focused you would have noticed its on your shoulder."

Rose gasped as she turned her head to the side to find the quarter sitting on her shoulder.

"Whoa," she said taking it off. "How did you do that?"

"I focused," I stated. "Now again."

I did the same trick at least three times before I shouted, "Dear Merlin, Rose! Focus!"

"I am focusing!" She yelled back.

"I never said focus of the quarter!" I groaned. "Now focus on what really matters. The magician."

Her eyes locked with mine as I tossed the quarter up, only actually siding behind my thumb then gently placing it on her shoulder.

"Tada!" I sighed. "I didn't even use magic with that trick. I just made your mind focus on one thing while I did the trick. Get it?"
