VIII- Owen

"Whoa," I grinned as my eyes dazzled at the ink covered pages of some old books Wills uncle gave me to read. "Double whoa!"

"What is it, this time," my brother sighed while siting upside down on the couch in the lairs living room.

"Did you know there is over 100 different species of dragons! A-and did you know that there is a special nature reserve just to protect unicorns from extinction! And did you know-."

"Owen," my brother moaned. "Stop. Your killing me."

"In here it says that you can prevent death with 10 different spells and techniques!" I grinned while shoving the book in my brothers face.

The sound of a jolly laughter came from behind us. I turned around to see Caesar walking down the spiral staircase.

"Careful there Owen. I'm not sure your brother can handle anymore. He might fall off the couch and hit his head on the table. Then he would have a concussion."

"Oh! In this magic health book it states that you can cure a concussion with only the powder from a dragon lily!" I bursted out.

Caesar chuckled again while walking towards us.

"Why don't you two go to a magicians school? I'm sure it would be better than whatever you guys went to before."

"Magician school?" I said. The word tickled my tongue.

This seemed like a dream come true (for me that is). I could actually go to school with people like me. No one would think I'm different because things explode around me. I could learn about magic. Real magic! Maybe I could even make some friends...

"That sounds awesome!" I cheered while pumping my fists in the air.

"Well," Caesar started while picking up the newspaper off the kitchen table. "I'm planning on signing Charlie up for a very popular magicians academy. Maybe you could talk to your uncle and join him."

"Oh I'll give him a piece of my mind of joining that school," I said puffing out my chest.

Wills uncle laughed again while walking into the shop.

Orion and I followed him into the shop where we saw Will snuggling Rose just like the first zillion times.

Will sat on the wooden stool behind the counter with Rose in his lap giggling. He whispered something in her ear and she laugh or nudge him.

Orion made a low groaning noise as I cocked my eyebrow.

"Hey," I whispered to my brother. "I was reading some things for preforming magic. Watch this."

I pointed my finger forward and focused all my energy on the apple sitting by the cash register. Without them noticing I forced it to move up.

The feeling of using magic was overwhelming. It felt like my lungs were full of smoke, but finally had been cleared. An icy feeling had covered my insides and sent shivers up my arms. It was refreshing.

The apple bobbed up and down above Will and Rose, almost as if the air in this very room was like water, keeping it afloat.

I squeezed my hand closed and watched the fruit cave in on itself, resulting in a messy crushed apple falling on Wills head.

Orion and I bursted into laughter as Rose snorted. Will on the other had glared us down.

"Let me try, let me try," Orion laughed, on the verge of tears.

My brother snapped his fingers. Suddenly, the sticky notes sitting on the counter in a neat stack separated and charged at Will like fighter planes. His face was smothered with colorful sticky notes.
