New family

   Luz was already deep in the forest, away from the house and city, and most definitely the castle. Luz wondered around the red trees desperately looking for shelter from the boiling rain.

   "Help..... Help me please..... Titan, guide me to shelter, please!" Luz called out to the sky. Luz looked out to the Titan's skull; she never knew the land could be so beautiful, but she couldn't stay for long. Luz needed shelter, and fast. The boiling rain soon became a down pour. Luz was desperately looking for a place when she came across a cave.

    "Hello? Any....... Witches.......or demons... Home?" Luz called out panicking, wondering if someone or something would attack her. The cave looked old and had broken bones, Hyde's, and rotten corpses all over the ground. Luz walked in, getting out of the rain, trying not to make a sound.

    CRACK!!!

    Luz accidently stepped on a branch and multiple pairs of eyes opened up and stared at her when a large pair, much bigger than the rest opened and stared at her.

    "I- I'm sorry. I just need a place to stay from the boiling rain!! If I could stay until then I won't disturb you!" Luz called out, crying.

    "Enough!! who are you? You look awfully young..." A voice from the large eyes had boomed.

     "M-me? I-My name i-is Luz...... I'm ei-eight. P-please I n-need a place t-to st-stay!" Luz cried holding her eyes out blocking her face as she fell to her bottom.

    "Calm down child. You can stay, but only until the rain stops. Stay ANY longer and you will be fed to the Ratworms." The voice said, loudly. Feeling threatened, Luz gathered her stuff and waited at the entrance of the cave after saying thank you.

    Luz didn't know what to do-she had never been outside the castle walls. The boiling rain had stopped after a few hours. Luz kicked up her bag and left looking back.

   "Chirp"  A noise went behind her.

    "Huh? Who? What?" Luz questioned looking around her then at her feet. There she saw a red Cardinal staring back at her, perched on her boot.

     "Hello there..... What's your name?"

      "Chirp"

      "mm..... I can't understand bird"

      "Chirp chirp"
  
       "*Sigh* well I guess you can come with. I would like someone to, its getting really lonely...." Luz picked up the red Cardinal while trying to think of names to call him.
 
       Luz continues to walk for a few hours before finding a house. Luz knocked on the door and met a woman with short grey hair, glasses connected to chains, and dressed in a long red dress.

       "Oh hello, there. Where are your parents?" The woman asked looking at Luz.

        "Oh umm........ I don't.....have any?" Luz answered.

       "Oh my, come in so we can treat your wounds." The woman offered, looking at Luz's scars.

     The two walked inside and Luz sat on the couch while the lady went to the kitchen and came back with a med kit.

     "Who is your little friend? Is he your palisman?"

      "What's a Palisman?" Luz asked. "A Palisman is the companion and staff of a witch. They help us with our magic and transportation, they also make great friends." The woman said petting the bird on her arm.

     "Oh, well he isn't mine....at least I don't think so. He just came with me....."

     "Oh well.... It looks like you two would be great together."

     "Maybe not, I don't even understand what he says....." Luz said looking down at her lap.

     "Where do you live hun?"

     "I don't live anywhere...."

     "Well you could stay with me and my husband, he is a Palisman carver. Well...... At least he was...." The woman said looking to a certain door in the hallway to her right when a click was heard.

     The door opened and an old man came out. He had a huge scar across the right of his face. Luz looked at him in horror, wondering how he ended up like that.

     "Oh good morning darling!" The woman said smiling at the man. Turns out the man was the woman's husband, who she was talking about earlier.

    "Good morning Gwendolyn. Who is our guest?" The man had asked. Apparently the woman's name was Gwendolyn, Luz looked towards the two, then at Gwen.

     "Oh! This girl in knocked on our door. Apparently she is an orphan with no home," Gwen explained.

     "What's her name?" The man asked.

     "M-my name is Luz, sir." Luz said, shaking, standing up not looking at the man.

      Gwen and her husband knew from Luz's behavior that she was not treated right where she was from before she left. May it be an orphanage or a family members house.

      "Luz ........ Please sit... Don't stress yourself." The man said kindly looking at her. The man then grabbed a cane and walked to the couch.

       "I- I'm sorry...." Luz said, about to cry. Luz had developed a fear for father's ever since the punishments Emperor Belos had for her in the throne room, and didn't know it.

      The red Cardinal then looked at Luz and grabbed her sleeve, pulling her down. The Cardinal then chirped and calmed Luz down. Luz petted the Cardinal and decided to name him FlapJack, she didn't know the name popped in her head, but she decided to call him that.

    "Stay here with us. Since you don't have a home, we will take you in" the man had said with Gwen nodding her head with a smile.

     "I would love that, thank you....." Luz replied, greatful for finding this lovely couple.
