Yet again, your friend calls you when the pregnant coworker, "had her baby! Like, how dare she?"

Han is sitting at the dinner table reading the paper, "Han?"

"What's up?"

"I got called into work."

He looks up at you, "whatever happened to your vacation?"

"I guess a baby doesn't really care."

"Ah." He says.

"So, I can borrow your truck?"

"No way. I'll drive you to work."

And so, you climb up into Han's truck and you begin the drive to the cafe.

"I'll catch a ride home," you say when the truck screeches to a halt, "maybe you should fix your brakes." You say, fast enough for him to not reply.

Relief washes over Mara's face when she sees you past the lineup.

"Thank god," she says when you put on your apron, "we're out of cold brew! Who gets iced coffees during winter?"

"Beats me."

And so, iced coffees are made with shots of espresso. During a brief break she groans and looks at you with desperation, "I can't believe this."

"I don't think babies care about getting to work."

"Okay, I guess that was a little distasteful."

"So you're telling me I really should not get an English degree."

"Or else you'll be stuck here forever. Anyways, how was dinner?"

"All hell didn't break loose."

"Better than normal, right?"

"Yeah," you wipe some spilled milk away, "he's just so different. Like, majorly. He even dresses so, different."

"Like, in drag?"

"In slacks," you look up, "very well fitting ones."

"Ooh," she smirks, "shirtless?"

"No. A button up."

"Like a pencil pusher?"

"No, like a sexy lawyer."

"A disgraced lawyer," she corrects, "what is he doing now for work?"

"I'm not sure what exactly, his mom got him a job."

"Love that." She says with a chuckle.

"Any action?"

A few customers walk in and you give her a shut the fuck up look.

"Chai tea latte with whole milk." A woman says, who looks haughty and stuck up.

"It's just chai,  and it's a vegan cafe, we don't have whole milk."

Mara elbows you, "do you want to lose a customer?"

You really don't care.

"Would that be with soy or oat?"

She lets out a huff, "oat."

She tries to put in an Amex in the card reader but it beeps.

"We don't take Amex."

She just rolls her eyes and walks off.

"Girl," Mara says, "you're gonna drive away the customers."

"I didn't eat breakfast."

"Have a muffin." She says , handing you one from the basket on the counter.
