After Race

As he got out of the car, Charles started walking towards his driver room. He was furious. He had gotten P4 because of a team's mistake. He was doing so good at the start of the season. He was ready to fight for the championship, but now he wasn't sure that he could win.

When he walked into the garage he saw Lydia's team celebrating. She had won the race. He wanted to be happy, he wanted to feel happy but as much as he tried  to he couldn't. He felt mad and sad and all those emotions he shouldn't feel because he had to be smiling for her. He should have been feeling proud for her and he did but the negative emotions took over his brain once again.

He needed a break. So he decided to distance himself for a little bit, not for too much time but enough so he could get rid of the negative emotions and be able to feel happiness again for the girl he loved.

As Lydia gets off the podium and into the garage her team starts cheering for her. As she hugs everyone her eyes search through the crowd for him but he isn't nowhere to be seen. She says nothing and she shakes her head getting rid of the negative thoughts before she starts overthinking.

A few minutes later, when everyone gets outside to celebrate she realizes that only her team is with her. His team's garage is closed. She decides to brush everything off and just enjoy her win. But that sinking feeling in her stomach is there and Lydia feels awful, like she is going to puke.

Charles was laying on his bed with his hands behind his head. He was staring at the roof. His face blank but his mind full of thoughts. Suddenly, his phone that has been beside him, suddenly buzzed distracting Charles form his thoughts.

Lydia💫 has sent you a message: "Where are you?"

He takes a deep breath before he taps on the notification to reply.

"I'm resting. Do you want to meet later?" he texted back.
"Yes. Your hotel room" she texted back putting her phone when somebody told her that they needed to take some more pictures with her.

Charles's hotel room, 8:05 p.m

Charles opened the door revealing the brunette girl. He couldn't stop but smile as she got into the room, hugging him and kissing him.

"How are you?" he asked her looking down at her.
"Good" simply replied.
"Also congratulations on your win" Finally. He remembered.
"Sorry I wasn't there earlier" he said avoiding her eyes. His voice full of shame.
"Truth be told I was disappointed that you weren't there because I feel like everyone hates me now" she said back, crossing her arms on her chest.
"What do you mean?" He looked into her eyes. There was something there. She was mad?

"I won Charles. I fucking won. And no one celebrated with me. Not you, not your team. They closed the garage door and refused to come out. I feel like everyone hates me" A tear that she hadn't realized she was holding back fell from her eye.
"Many people hate me Charles, because I'm a female driver and because I'm successful. Many people didn't believe in me. Many people have said that I don't deserve a spot in a Ferrari or that I don't have no place in Formula 1. Others have called me spoiled, arrogant, evil but their hateful words don't touch me. But I feel absolutely trash when my own team doesn't support me. When they refuse to celebrate with me"
She had started speaking louder and louder as said more and more about how people have treated her for the past years.
She takes a deep breath, before opening her mouth to speak again.
"I know we said that we shouldn't confuse our job with our relationship but I felt really disappointed today" she finally said. Her voice quiet and calming, almost like whispering.
