Yukio had woken up at 5:00 am as usual. Wiping the sleep from his blue eyes, he began his normal routine. Shower, brush out his light brown hair. Then equip his gear and uniform. His overall appearance is neat and clean. He put on his glasses, gathered his paperwork and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. Ukabok had prepared bacon, eggs and toast. Thanking the stove demon for breakfast, he sat down and began going over today's lesson plan. Yukio knew he would have to get Rin up soon. Even though he and Rin no longer shared rooms he still diligently woke his brother every morning. He really wished his brother would take things more seriously. Suddenly it felt like he had been punched in his chest, knocking the wind from his lungs. His skin burned like fire. Black dots danced across his vision. A voice rang clear though his mind "The king will rise" A deafening scream tore through the dorm. "Rin" was Yukios only thought as he bolted out the kitchen, toward his brother's room.
Throwing the door open, Yukio barged into Rins room. What he saw made him freeze. Rin was standing by his dresser in his night clothes. Blue flames surrounded him. His drak blue hair flowed playfully with the fire. Tail thrashing behind him. His brother's gaze was locked on the sword in his hand. A pressure seemed to be coming from him. Making it hard to breathe. His tongue felt heavy in his mouth "Are you alright?" Yukio finally managed to say. As Rin slowly turned around the pressure lifted and air poured into his lungs. Rins expression was fierce. His fangs had lengthened. His ears were longer, coming to sharp points. The irises of his eyes seemed to move like fire. Yukio found himself unable to look away. Nor would he want to. To look away felt like turning from life itself.
Rin spoke slowly and with a calmness that was so unlike the brother he knew. "Yukio, you have always been smart, faster than others, and strong. All the things that were taken from me. I am out of time. The seal will break soon." Fear flashed across Yukio's face, but it was not for himself, but for his brother. The look on Rin's face softened, and a soft smile spread across his face.
Yukio's eyes were still locked with Rins. What he saw in his brother's eyes was nothing but love and trust. He said "I love you little brother. You have nothing to fear. You have done a good job protecting me up until now, but you won't have to for much longer. Just have faith in me, okay. Everything is going to be fine." Tears began to roll down Yukio's cheeks. The truth in his words was undeniable, so absolute. All his doubts melted away. Rin spread open his arm in an invitation to come be held, protected, loved. Without hesitation he rushed to his brother. The flames were warm where they touched his skin. He was content. He was safe. Rin pulled away from the embrace. It hurt to let go.
Rin stepped back, and began looking around. Almost like in a daze. He looked back at Yukio and blinked a few times. It was like the world snapped and Rins eyes returned to their normal dark blue. His fangs receded and his ears became smaller. His flames no longer surrounded him. Reality crashed back down on him. He stumbled backward. Righting himself, he looked down at the still flaming sword in his hand, and thought "It's going to hurt like hell when this damn thing breaks."
The sound of guns clicking brought him the rest of the way out of his thoughts. "RIN WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!" Yukio shouted. He had recovered from the trance he had been under. He had no idea that Rin was capable of something like that. "Put your guns away, four eyes." Rin stated bluntly, sheathing his sword. Yukio didn't budge. Rin sighed. "Look bro, this is why I haven't told you about this and have been keeping to myself. It actually hasn't been that hard since you're always busy. I am trying my hardest to control it. There is just so much fire. Sorry, I let it slip."
Yukio lowered his guns "you let it slip! Rin do you even know what you just did?" "Honestly, not really. I know I will only be able to pull kirikata a few more times before it shatters. The seal will break and I will burn." "Then why were you looking at the sword, and why did you scream? Don't lie to me. Something just happened to you. I felt it in my heart." Yukio demanded. A look of concern came over Rins face. "What do you mean you felt it?" "We're twins, is that really so hard to believe. Now, answer my question." Rin hesitated "would you believe me if I said it was just a bad dream?" "This isn't a joke, Rin." Yukio grumbled. "Well, I don't have any other answer. Why don't you tell me? You're the damned exorcist. I am going off instinct, and raw power!" Yukio took a deep breath, and put his guns away.
"Have you thought about asking Mephisto about this? He is the one who sealed your powers in the first place." Yukio asked. Rin chuckled "I thought you were supposed to be the smart one. Do you really think the great King of space and time doesn't already know?" "This isn't funny Rin." "Okay, fine. So what now? "Just be careful, I don't want anything to happen to you." "Thanks Yukio." "Class starts soon, we need to get going or we will be late."
