Rin stood in front of the door to Mephistos office. Would Amaimon actually teach him? He took a deep breath and entered. Mephisto sat at his large, very elaborate desk. Amaimon was leaning against the left wall, lollipop in his mouth. “Rin, please take a seat.” Mephisto said. Rin sat down in a chair in front of the desk. Mephisto began "There is conflict in Gehenna over the future of Assiah. Myself and others believe it should remain as it is now, in perfect chaos. Gahanna and Assiah are meant to be separate. Lucifer and his followers wish to conquer Assiah. Claiming mankind needs to learn its place. After the death of your mother many turned to his cause. You can no longer be kept ignorant of your demonic heritage. Amaimon and his kin have remained neutral in this war. Which makes him an ideal choice to educate you. Lucifer has agreed to give you one year in Assiah before he moves forward with his plans. Under the condition you consider joining his cause.” Rin didn’t answer right away “Why would Lucifer do that? I’m only one person, or demon. My flames can’t make me that important.” Mephisto had a sly look on his face “They are so much more than flames, and you know that.”
Rins eyes darted to Amaimon, then back to Mephsito. “Amaimon, give me a seed.” Rin stated. Amaimon glanced at Mephisto. “Go on Amaimon, give him a seed.” Without a word Amaimon brought his hand up, snapped his fingers and a small seed appeared in Rins hand. Rin set the seed on the desk and sat back. The room pulsed with energy. Blue fire poured from the seed and it began to grow. Soon a beautiful lily had grown on Mephistos desk. RIn looked at his work and smiled. As Mephisto and Amaimon stared at the flower it suddenly turned to ash. “How did you do that!” Amaimon snarled. “Clam yourself Amaimon.” Mephisto said. Any emotion Amamoin had faded instantly. Rin interrupted “Fine, Too much importance was put on me and my flames. Why me and not Yukio? because the blue flames of Gehenna do not represent just destruction but also creation.” “So your beginning to understand.” Mephisto answered knowingly “Your regular classes will be cut back to two days a week, monday and wednesday. The rest of the week you will be under Amaimon's tutelage. You will still have to attend the cram school, as per your agreement with the vatican. Do you have any questions?” Rin could barely contain his excitement “Yes, when do we start?”
“We start now.” Amaimon stated as he brought his hand up and snapped his fingers. The next thing Rin knew he was standing in a room that looked like a small library. There was a table in the middle of the room, and a couch facing a fireplace. It was quite cozy. “Where are we?” Rin asked. Amaimon looked at him with the same blank expression he always had: “We are in the foust manor. You will be doing most of your studies here. These books were not meant for worms, they stay here. Understand?” “yes, now what am I going to be learning?”Rin replied impatiently. Amaimon took a moment to observe Rin. His hair was a mess. Shirt untucked, but his tie was done correctly. He stood tall, shoulders out. Defiant as always. A challenge just waiting to be answered. Exactly what gehennas price should be.“You will be learning the laws and power systems of gehenna. Along with Its culture, history and proper etiquette, which you are greatly lacking.” The statement annoyed Rin, but he ignored it. “I will also be training you in proper fighting techniques and weapon skills. You can’t keep relying on being able to overpower your opponent. Unless you wish to kill everyone you challenge.”
Rin could barely contain his excitement “I’ve never had any real training before. I grew up in a church where there is a strict nonviolence policy. Didn’t stop me from punching someone in the face for being a jerk. I’ve gotten a lot better at controlling my flames, But you're right, all I have ever done is overpower people. Never had a real challenge except for you and You might have only been messing with, but I think I did ok”
Amiamon just stared at him for a moment, he knew he had lost there fight they had in the forest. Rin lost all control of his flames, it was more like fighting a feral beast. He had been completely overpowered. He should be proud of his victory. Humans denied him even that. “The humans were cruel to punish you for your very nature” Amaimon replied. He turned around and walk down the closest row of books. Pulling one from the shelf, he handed it to Rin. Rin stared at the book. It was old with strange symbols on the front. But for some reason they seemed to make since A history of Gehenna. “Can you read it?” Amaimon asked. “Yes, but how?” Rin wondered. “Langage comes easily to most demons.I was hoping that would be the case with you” Amaimon stated. Rin opened the book and began to read.
In the beginning there was only the void. Empty of everything except a small blue flame that flicked in the dark. As the flame grew, it wanted to move forward though the void. So it created time and space. Now it could move forward but it was still empty. So the flame created Earth, with this, it created all the stars and planets. They were barron, dark and empty. To fill the darkness it created light. The dark and light began to swirl around each other in an endless circle, creating day and night. On the planet where the light shone the brightest, the flame created all the different plants to cover the barron earth. Soon the plants began to wither, so water was formed to feed them. They grew to large, leaving no room for new plants to grow. Fire was created to consume them, to make room for new plant to grow. LIfe and death was bron. It was a perfect cycle. But it still needed more.
Out of darkness the flame created creatures fill its planets. They were strong and powerful. Proud of its creation, it decided to make creatures out of light. They were weak and could not survive in the dark. But it was still proud of its creation. So the flame made a new world out of light for them. It covered this new world in a vail to protect them from the darkness. The last gift he gave these creatures of light was a guide to lead them back to the dark when they died. Rin closed the book and gave Amiamon a strange look. “Do you have a question?” Amiamon asked. “Yes,” Rin replied, "If this is true, what about god, there's power in his words." Amiamon sighed "it doesn't matter what you call it, it's the creator, it's there, always watching. Its a power so absolute that you can't deny its existence.” The words from his dream came back to his mind, with power absolute. Rin asked “What about satan? I was told that the demon kings were his sons. This says you are older than that.” Amiamon explained “Our egos didn’t form for some time. But our aspects are eternal. We are a family of sorts. We have been together since the beginning. Satan was created from the sins of man. Human may have been born from light but they were created by darkness. It is a part of them. The sins of man were so strong they created a being so powerful that none could stand against him. He wanted everything and became known as father. His wrath the night your mother died and you were lost to him was terrifying. You are fathers only true son.” Rin grit his teeth. Amiamon continued “I was sure Assiah would fall the day you were found. But father did not succeed in taking you to gaheena.” “Well I’m glad Maphisto hid me from that psycho.” Rin said “One more question, If demons are made from darkness, and humans light, what does that make me?” Without hesitation Amiamon said “rare and powerful.”
