By the time Mouri and the others returned, as expected, it was already late at night with the clock nearing nine. And unfortunately, they didn't get anything out of their trip. Whether it was the people living in the apartment complex or other houses nearby, they were all in the clear.

The only hint they got after going around in circles was that one of the places where the five bombs on the Loop were located on top of the bridge over the Sumida Canal.

When Conan asked about the locations where the bombs had been placed, he wasn't sure if he would get any useful hints. Surprisingly, the knowledge about the bridge did remind him of something. It reminded him of the picture of the bridge he had seen in the architect Moriya Teiji's gallery.

That bridge was one of his works, as well as the Kurokawa Mansion that was set on fire just recently by a suspected serial arsonist. Two works of Moriya Teiji had been attacked one after the other in the same week. Conan wasn't one to believe in coincidences, so he had Detective Shiratori check the identity of the architect who design all the other buildings that had been set on fire by the arsonist these past days.

Just as Conan had expected, each one of the buildings that were set on fire by the arsonist was designed by Moriya Teiji. Not counting the bridge that would have been damaged if they didn't find the bombs in time, there was the Kurokawa Mansion, the Mizushima Mansion, the Yasuda Mansion, and the Akutsu Mansion. Four arsons these past days, and each of the buildings destroyed was designed by the same person when he was in his early 30s.

Until now, they weren't sure what the bomber's purpose was. They thought he might want revenge against Shinichi, although he didn't seem to care that much whether it was Shinichi who was investigating his case or someone else. But if the bomber was also the arsonist, it meant that he could be someone who held a grudge against Moriya Teiji or who was jealous of him.

They didn't exactly have that many other leads so, with Conan rushing to follow them, Inspector Megure, Mouri, and Detective Shiratori headed for the Moriya Residence with Conan leading the way since Mouri had no recollection of where it was located.

By the time they reached Moriya's place, it was already way past 9:00 PM. It was less than an hour before Shinichi's appointment with [Name] in the cinema. The appointment he could only try to not think about since there was no way for him to go in his current state.

When they arrived, Moriya led them inside a greeting area. There were no servants at home, so it was just them. Moriya let the three men sit on a couch and he took the one opposite to it, a coffee table in between the two couches.

Conan chose to take an ottoman that was in between, facing a fireplace. To his right was Moriya Teiji and to his left were the three men who sat with Megure in the middle.

Moriya used a match to light his pipe. He leaned back, crossing his legs as he listened to the inspector telling him of some of his designs being destroyed. He didn't seem upset about it, only humming in understanding. "I see. That's indeed too much to be a mere coincidence."

"Can you think of anyone who might do something like this?" Megure had no interest in wasting time, so he directly asked what they wanted to know.

Moriya remained calm, "Hmm, let me think..." As he thought, Moriya noticed that Conan had gotten off his seat and gone to a table by the side where there was a picture frame with a family of three. There was a serious man with a long mustache, a gentle-looking woman, and a young child who was holding her hand. All three were formally dressed and behind them was the Big Ben. "That's a photograph from when I was ten, Conan-kun. With me are my mother and father."
