The clicking of a computer's keys ringed in a dark room, only the light of the screen illuminating the empty place of what was a company's research lab.
On the ground were two guards and five scientists unconscious, beside them a cylinder still letting some sleeping gas out to keep them that way.
In front of the main computer was a woman who looked to be in her thirties, wearing a suit and a lab coat. Glasses framing her blue eyes and her brown hair was tied in a bun.
Her pink lips raised in a smirk once found exactly what she was looking for, "Gotcha."
Pressing a couple more keys, a small window showing a green bar and signaling the data being downloaded appeared and the woman let out a sigh of relief.
Once it marked a 100%, she removed the USB and placed it in inside her pocket.
"Sorry about this." she crouched beside one of the scientists on the floor, a woman who looked identical to her, "But I'll be taking your research, Director-san."
With that, she stood up and pressed a button on the wall, an alarm blaring loudly in the building. The people in the lower offices of the building beginning to panic.
The woman hurried out of the lab, her face seeming to look as panicked as everybody else's.
A robotic voice speaking through the speakers in every corridor and floor, "A hazardous material has been spilled in the lab. Everyone please exit the building in a calm fashion and wait for further instructions."
Guards led the people out, keeping their eyes open for anyone doing anything suspicious, another one doing the same from the security room.
The woman went down the hall of the top floor, two guards rushing from the entrance.
"Director, what happened?!" asked one of them once they stopped in front of her.
Sweat ran down the woman's face, panting slightly, "One of those incompetent idiots ruined one of my experiments! A toxic gas filtered out before we could notice and the security measures in the lab didn't activate for some reason! Go deal with it!"
"Hai, ma'am!"
Both men went on their way, their fear for what the Director would do to them if they questioned her orders being greater than anything they felt for that gas.
Watching their backs shrink in the distance, she smirked and went on her way, "Don't worry, it's nothing toxic. You will just sleep for a little while."
Once she got outside, the sun hit her face, clouding her glasses and her mischievously gleaming eyes.
Scurrying out of the building along with the rattling mass that was keeping the guards and police occupied, the woman walked into a dark alley away from the commotion.
It was the middle of the day and the offices of the building were completely filled with workers, not to mention outside entities who had come for business meetings or to drop off packages.
Well, there were more than usual since she had made sure to send a lot of deliveries to the building for the same time and today was a huge annual meeting between all the branches of the company.
The building was filled with people who were not used to their process of operations and it's even worse for those who know since the lockdown didn't activate in the lab like it was supposed to. Not like it would since it was a false alarm.
"Most thieves attack during the night, so..." she took off her glasses, her formerly blue orbs now turning green, and ripped her hair and mask off, showing the face of a young teenage girl with [Hair Length], [Hair Color] locks. Her voice now being more childish. "...by nature they weren't expecting anything to happen."
