A horn blared through the heavy mist that veiled the sea, a small shipping vessel traveling across this sea where nothing around could be seen no matter in which direction you looked.

And standing on the deck while leaning against the rail was no other than Mouri Kogoro. Though the man didn't look particularly happy to be there, smoking in annoyance. "Damn it. Why does a great detective like me have to go to an island like this, especially with this kind of weather, just because of some stupid letter we got a week ago?"

Said letter hadn't said much other than inviting them to solve a case. The strange thing was that the letter wasn't handwritten or printed. Instead, all the characters were cut from magazines and newspapers and then glued onto the paper to form the message.

"On the night of the next full moon, the shadows will again begin to disappear on Tsukikage Island. Your investigation is required. -Asou Keiji." Is what it said.

Then, five days later, a man using the name Asou Keiji called the agency to remind him of the job. The person directly transferred 500,000 yen into Mouri's bank account, not giving the detective a chance to say a thing. Whether Mouri wanted to or not, since he received the payment, he had to come to the island.

"Geez, a self-hiring customer..."

And of course, the usual trio shamelessly followed along.

"It doesn't matter. We get to relax on a small island away from home. Right?" Ran held the straps of her backpack cheerily. She had dressed quite casually to come here and wore a brown sweater with cuffs of a lighter tone and a black shirt underneath. Below, Ran had simple, light blue shorts and sneakers.

Beside her, Conan wore his typical blue suit with a red bowtie. The boy standing in the same position of holding his backpack as he nodded. "Yep!"

[Name]'s attire was just as casual. She wore a button-up, long-sleeved green shirt that had horizontal and vertical stripes, and dark blue jeans. Over it, she wore a light brown cardigan hoodie. And on her feet were short, dark boots. "It's been a while since we have been away from the city, too."

"Humph." Kogoro wasn't as convinced, less so as they neared the island surrounded by smog and with barely any civilization to speak of. "Does that island look like a place we can relax in?"

Whatever their thoughts might be, without meeting with this Asou Keiji person, there was nothing much that could be done. And with that thought in mind, they headed for the Town Hall building.

However, no matter how much the man at the desk searched the island's directory, it was as if the person who called didn't exist. "Asou Keiji? There's no such person on this island."

"What? Please, double-check. I've just gotten a letter from him." insisted Mouri, showing him the letter he had been sent which showed it had been sent from within Tsukikage Island.

"But he's not in the directory, and I just moved here last month so I don't know many people on the island..." the man scratched his head helplessly. Even if he checked again, it wouldn't make a difference.

As they entered a stalemate, a middle-aged man in a gray suit and with glasses approached them, "What's the matter?"

"Manager, this gentleman says that he was hired by a resident of the island." explained the staff member. Receiving a puzzle glance from his superior, the young man continued, "Yes, from a person called Asou Keiji."

"A-Asou Keiji?!!"

The whole room turned in their direction after the manager's outburst. But it wasn't simply out of hearing someone suddenly shout. The expressions of the townspeople could only be described as frightened. What the cause of that fear might be, the four couldn't be sure just yet.
