Soon enough, the old officer called the police and Inspector Megure to the Community Center. Ran, Kogoro, Narumi, and Reiko following along.

Due to the translation of the music sheet, the first assumption made was that Nishimoto had hanged himself. As for his reasons, it was all in the music sheet.

"It was suicide?"

Megure nodded Mouri's way, holding the music sheet, "Yes, according to his last testament, he killed himself over the anguish of murdering Kawashima and Kuroiwa."

"You mean Nishimoto did it?!" exclaimed Mouri.

"That's right. Apparently, his motive was to keep the mistake they made years ago a secret. 'They' being Kameyama, who died 2 years ago, and Kawashima and Kuroiwa who were both just killed, Nishimoto, who just killed himself, and Asou Keiji, who immolated himself 12 years ago."

"T-That pianist?!" Mouri had heard that name so much that it was already stuck in his head. Now he heard it again from the inspector's mouth.

"Yeah, this message says that Asou Keiji came up with the code and taught it to them. They probably used the code for something or other." explained Megure, receiving Mouri understanding, "I see. Nishimoto knew that Asou left behind some mysterious sheet music and was afraid of their secret being revealed, so he broke into this storeroom through the window in order to destroy the documents. But could not find the sheets, and backed into a psychological dilemma, Nishimoto made the decision to kill himself."

Still holding the music sheet, Megure grabbed the tape recorder, "The last statement of the will is, 'My life ends with the third movement.' Nishimoto probably heard this third movement of Moonlight Sonata as his consciousness slipped away." Saying that, he turned to the old officer who was still searching all over the storeroom. "So, did you find Asou's music sheet?"

"It was 12 years ago. I don't remember where I put it."

They already had the murderer, so it didn't matter even if they didn't find it. It was just pure human curiosity along with the wish to know why so many people had to die that kept them searching. Thinking such, Mouri spoke, "But, what could this mistake they made be?"

"Don't ask me. It says 'demon powder' in the will, but it's not exactly clear. What I do know is that this is the end of the case. With the suicide of Nishimoto Ken." stated Megure.

"It wasn't suicide."

Both men spun around, their eyes falling on [Name] who leaned against the door. From her expression alone, it looked like she wanted to beat them up badly.

"Why do you say that?"

Hearing the detective's question, she wanted to sigh even more. "Isn't it obvious? If he killed himself, then how did he get up there. There's nothing below him for him to have jumped form after tying the rope around his neck. Moreover, have you ever seen such a complicated will. According to you, he became frustrated after not finding the music sheet which could point to his previous 'mistakes' and so he found no choice but to commit suicide. Am I right?"

Both men nodding, "Right..."

"Then, while in the middle of such a state of panic, would anyone take the time to carefully write a code as a will saying why he killed himself? Even someone with a calm mind probably wouldn't do it. Less so, someone who was on the brink of breaking down. If he was that calm, then he would have just kept searching. Anyhow, he had all night and all the witnesses to his mistakes were gone."

It was reasonable when one thought about it. Mouri might act like a fool most of the time, but neither he nor the inspector were rookies. They had seen all kinds of cases throughout the years.
