Nichiuri TV Station, or NTV for short, was one of the more widespread television networks in Japan. As the evening approached, instead of the station's building being emptied, it became busier as everyone prepared for the afternoon and night programs. On the ninth floor of the building, one such program was being recorded live.

The studio was wide with an auditorium-like design. Seats surrounded the stage with each spot being filled by either members of the public or staff members used to fill the empty spots. On the stairs around the auditorium, cameras and microphones were set up, some pointed to the stage and others to the audience.

On the stage was a long table like one from news stations. The two hosts of the program sat together. To one end of the table was the male host, Matsuo Takashi, and to his right was his assistant, Nagai Ayako, who sat in the middle. While at the other end of the table sat a guest they had invited to tonight's show.

Matsuo was 35 years old, although he looked somewhat older with pronounced marks under his eyes and cheeks. His eyes were narrow, hidden behind round glasses. His dark hair was thinning. What little bangs he had left were brushed to each side, making a triangular shape on his forehead. And he wore a grey suit with a mulberry pink tie and a white button-up shirt.

Meanwhile, Nagai was slightly younger with fairer skin and no markings. Her eyes were small, taking an oval shape, and her brown hair was cut short, not even reaching her shoulders. Her bangs fell over her forehead, taking a design like Sailor Moon's. The woman wore a peach skirt and jacket with a cerulean blue turtleneck underneath, both contrasting and complementing Matsuo's attire.

As soon as the cameras started rolling live, Matsuo Takashi began the introductions. "Good evening! Welcome to this week's edition of 'Japanese See-All Detective Station'! I'm your host, Matsuo Takeshi."

"And I'm his assistant, Nagai Ayako!"

Matsuo continued smiling at the camera. "Our staff sorts through all your unsolved and difficult cases for us to solve on air."

Then Nagai took over. "Today, we welcome a renowned guest. He's a detective who's been appearing all over the news recently, the one and only Mouri Kogoro-san!"
