''And then there is my paternal uncle.'' Clecentine finished explaining. ''He and I get along well with each other.''

For the last half an hour she had been helping me remember the names of her family members, stating it would be useful for her cousin's wedding, the one we were headed to. I honestly didn't expect her to have a family forest instead of a family tree but I guess that's what happens when you're in the Mafia, conceiving children after children to provide suitable heirs.

''And Silas?'' I asked about her cousin, the groom.

''He's the goofiest one. But he's very annoying. That's how little brothers are.'' She sighed, already feeling tired at the thought of meeting her family.

I couldn't help but smile, imagining Clecentine being pestered by her little brother. She shifted in her seat and rested her head on my shoulder. I began patting the side of her head gently, lulling her to sleep.

''Wake me up when we've reached.'' And she closes her eyes, snuggling closer to me and I could just feel the bubbles of happiness inside me, ready to burst and ooze serotonin.

''How long until we're there Mr Wells?'' I asked the driver forty minutes later.

''About half an hour, miss.''

I took a deep, calming breath, readying myself to meet her family. Meeting one's family was one thing but meeting your Mistress' family belonging to the mafia was an entirely different thing.

''Clecentine. Darling, wake up.'' I nudged her shoulder.

She jolted up from my shoulder and rubbed her eyes, scanning her surrounding with cautious, predatory eyes. She she realised we had reached our destination her body went tense and stiff. I guess I wasn't the only one nervous about meeting them.

To my left was a huge cruise seated on waves of the ocean, its saline water glimmering in the bright, afternoon sunlight. It was one of the biggest cruises I had ever seen, with several rooms enough to hold at least fifteen joint families, two outdoor pools, a helipad and many other astonishing facilities I couldn't appreciate as Clecentine pulled me out of my trance.
