''When is the bride gonna arrive?'' I asked Clecentine for the second time, roaming my eyes around the entire place curiously.

It was the most lavish wedding I had ever seen. The guests were seated on wooden chairs wrapped in the softest white cloth and royal blue ribbons and the faint scent of roses and vanilla surrounded us with the entire place bathed in fairy lights and flowers.

''She'll come when she's done. Have some patience darling." Clecentine laughed softly so only I could hear it.

I still hadn't gotten used to the beautiful sound. Every time she laughed, it would catch me off guard.

A few minutes later the wedding band started playing and every face turned around to catch a glimpse of the bridesmaids, the flower girl and finally, the bride walking down the altar with her arm hooked with her father's.

The entire crowd stood on their feet, admiring Alicia's face, a subtle smile hidden behind her translucent veil embedded with small sapphires and diamonds.

I looked back to see Silas harbouring a proud smile on his face as he gazed at Alicia with light twinkling in his eyes. I turned my face around to look at Alicia and smiled internally as I made out the silhouette of a smile playing on her lips.

Such a perfect, pretty couple.

Alicia stood in front of Silas, the veil pushed back to give us all a view of her face. The priest soon began speaking the vows, his voice echoing in the hall. But Alicia and Silas seemed to be lost in their own world as they looked into each other's eyes with small smiles on their faces.

Could it ever be me and Clecentine in their place one day? I know it was impossible, a stupid dream filled with fantasies of love but I couldn't help but wish for it; to hope that it could be us one day.

I turned my face to my right to catch a glimpse of the woman who had occupied a permanent place in my heart and mind. My heart lept in joy when I saw her already looking at me, a pure and beautiful smile on her face as if all the glamour and grace around us held no meaning and it was just the two of us.

The light from the fairy lights softly illuminated her face, making the flecks in her eyes sparkle. She looked like a portrait painted by the Angels of Heaven; one in whose beauty they showed partiality.

The sound of the priest reciting the vows could be heard faintly in the background and for a moment it felt that it was the two of us standing at the altar.

My beautiful angel.

The crowd burst into humble cheers and claps, snapping us out of our trance. We looked at each other for one split second before we too began clapping our hands together.

Minutes later all the single women gathered in one place, ready to catch the bouquet. Although Clecentine's relatives thought the two of us were seeing each other, nothing was official, so we too stood in the crowd of the excited woman who stood with outstretched arms.
