As I sat in my car my body couldn't help but tremble slightly in nervousness and anxiety. Raul Martinelli knew about Rose and it wouldn't be a surprise if his men did too. Most of his men were under our capture but there were some - better than the others - hiding in plain sight, most definitely hatching a plan to target Rose.
I couldn't keep her here with me. It was foolish of me to think that we could have a future together. We cannot have anything between us, not if it costs Rose her life.
I'd rather bear the pain of separation from Rose than be selfish and put her life in danger. I wanted her in my life. Every fibre in my body longed to be with her, to hold onto her forever and never let her go.
But we can't have a forever.
Someone like me living in a world of blood, gore and death can't have a forever with someone living in a world of romance, happiness and love. She was like the sunshine and I would just overshadow her light with my darkness. She deserves better.
I have to let her go. Even if it means breaking myself and my heart into millions of irreparable pieces.
''Madam, we've reached.'' Walter informed me politely from the front seat and I threw the door open and ran across the garden into the mansion.
I just need to see Rose. I need to see if she's okay.
I searched the entire mansion, every corner but I couldn't find her. I stopped in front of her room and slumped against the door. I crouched low and grabbed a fistful of my hair. Where is she? Have they taken her away from me? Am I too late?
My breathing picked up pace and before I realised I was gasping and panting for air. It was the first time I had a panic attack in seventeen years.
I felt a gentle arm on my shoulder and looked up with blurry eyes to see Walter crouching in front of me. ''Madam, Miss Rose has gone out to the Night Rock bar. She went an hour ago. I can take you there if you want.''
I don't know why I did it, but I threw my arms around him and hugged him tight. ''God, Walter.'' I breathed. ''Thank you so much.''
His chuckle reverberated in my chest as he pulled me away a bit, ''I'll always be loyal to you madam. Now let's get Rose."
