Comparing hand sizes was never something that [Y/n] found much interest in.
Sure, hands helped her and everyone else work and move and such, but she didn't see the importance of comparing them. In her mind, hands were just hands. But, that never stopped her from deciding to do it anyways.
On a normal day during homeroom, the high schooler watched Hori and Yoshikawa compare hand sizes with each other. Their usual teacher was absent that day, so a substitute had taken over. Thank whichever God for that because [Y/n]'s motivation for learning was zapped to dust in that hour.
The two girls giggled as their hands touched, seemingly fascinated by the difference in size.
"Yuki, your hands are so small." Hori grinned, interlocking both of her touching hands with the other. She held them tightly, causing Yoshikawa to let out a small sound.
"Ah!" Yuki smiled.
"Eh? What's wrong?"
Yoshikawa continued to hold Hori's hands tightly, a small shine coming from her eyes. "It's just that when hands are held unexpectedly, your heart will beat faster." She explained, squeezing the brunette's hands a little more. [Y/n] couldn't help but raise a brow at her words.
Hm?? Is that even true? Does your heartbeat really get faster? She looked down at her own hands, tilting them slightly as if she would get an answer from that. I mean, I've never held hands with anyone, so who am I to say it's false? She paused to think about it some more and furrowed her eyebrows. Does holding hands with my family count?
Innocently, [Y/n] continued to listen to their conversation with a heightened interest. It was possible that paying attention to their words would allow her to find an answer.
"Is that so?" Hori replied thoughtlessly.
"Apparently so!"
Ah, never mind.
From afar, the two boys of their small group, Ishikawa and Miyamura, watched the girl's interactions. They couldn't help but stare at them as they continued to speak, similarly (like [Y/n]) watching them with ongoing curiosity. To both of them, the girls were sure a mystery.
"Seems like the girls are having a good time...Hori looks very happy." Ishikawa mumbled before looking over to [Y/n]'s somewhat awkward standing position, "I don't know about [L/n] though. She's not talking to them."
As if [Y/n] could hear Ishikawa words, she suddenly looked over to the duo, causing Ishikawa to jump. Miyamura chuckled lightly at his surprise, watching [Y/n] turn her attention back to Hori and Yoshikawa. Either she did hear Ishikawa's words or she had a knack for knowing when people were talking about her. Well, Ishikawa and Miyamura would never know.
"If you're curious, then just go talk to them. Don't stare at them, they will know. In fact, I think [Y/n] already knows." As soon as those words left Miyamura's mouth, Hori looked over and jumped in surprise, similarly to what Ishikawa just did, "Actually, I think they already have an idea."
Ishikawa shrugged, following his friend's words, "Why are you holding hands?" He asked, bluntly.
"Come here! Yuki's hands are very small, right?" Hori smiled and motioned for the boys to come closer. Once both of them do, Ishikawa immediately began to compare hand sizes with Hori, taking a mental note at how much smaller her hands are. Then, an idea pops in his mind.
Wait...if I compare hand sizes with [L/n], then it'll be a perfect chance to hold her hand! Ishikawa moved his head over to [Y/n]---only to be met with a cold stare. It was like she already knew what he was going to ask and already gave her answer to it. Ishikawa felt slightly heartbroken at her response, an imaginary tear rolling down his face.
