I jumped out of theway of the knife, but he caught my waist on his way down. We hit the ground andimmediately he was on top of me. I caught his hand just in time before it madecontact. He applied more pressure, pushing it down dangerously close to mythroat. A bead of sweat trickled down my face as I fought his strength. I wasstrong but he was stronger, I knew I could only hold out for a few moreseconds. Then I remembered that I had the amulet. If I could only remember whatthings contained its magic I could maybe get out alive yet! I franticallysearched my brain while trying to keep the knife from embedding itself in mythroat. Suddenly I remembered, leather! That was it! One of the few things thatmagic couldn't penetrate! If I could just reach my pouch. I knew the only way Icould do that was if I let go with one hand. I was having enough trouble tryingto not let the amulet touch his skin. But I gathered what little strength I hadleft and let go. My arm almost collapsed by I saved it just in time. I grabbedfor the bag around my neck and opened as fast as I could with one hand. Islipped the amulet inside. Instantly Robin came back to normal, he looked at mewith confusion and said, "What happened? Why are you on the floor? Why am Itrying to kill you?" "Isn't that just like a man?" I muttered to myself. "Iwill answer your questions in order, One, you were possessed by the amulet'smagic. Two, you knocked me down. Three, you wanted the amulet. And four, GETOFF ME!!!!" I told him. He quickly got off and helped me to my feet. "Do youhave it?" he asked. "Yep, right in here." I said showing him my bag. I checkedmy watch again, 11:30. "We have to go!" I told him. "We won't make it in timeunless we run." He informed me. "Oh that's funny!" I glared at him. Just thenwe heard voices outside, De Noirs! They were trying to get in. "Where can wego? We are trapped in!" Robin said looking around. "Not if I can help it!" Isaid. I climbed up one side of the wall and escaped through the false roof.Robin followed me. We heard the shouts and curses behind us as we ran awaythrough the woods.
