I felt as if I werein a 3-legged race. I couldn't run so Robin had to help me, meaning I had myarm around his neck and we were running as best we could. I was hoping morethan anything else, but it was working. We were nearing Drop-Off Point when weheard shouts of, "If you have harmed either one of them I'll!" but he neverfinished his threat because we ran out of the brush. The voice belonged toBenjamin. He had his hands around the Cour De Noir's neck. "Stop!" I cried. "Wefound it!" Robin shouted. "Elizabeth! Thank heavens!" Benjamin cried as Lovedayran over to me and gave me a hug. "We thought you were gone too!" shewhispered. Before I could ask who the other person everyone kept referring to,the Cour De noir had ran over. "Give it to me now!" he yelled shoving Lovedayout of the way. I leapt out of the way of his hands as they closed uponnothing. Suddenly Benjamin, Marmaduke, Digweed and Robin were all on top ofhim, pinning his hands behind him. I looked over at Loveday and Mrs. Heliotrope,I thought how much I would miss them. I smiled at them and started towards theedge of the drop off. I took a deep breath and said, "Five hundred years youhave stayed hidden, 5 generations you have destroyed, all down to this. I sayto you and all present, I rid the world of this vile thing, wrought at thehands of vile beings, made of silver, enchantments, and evil. I call the evilout of this world. Let it do no more damage. I fix a wrong tonight! Take backthe object that has brought so many to ruin! Let it reek havoc no more!" Ilooked back at those I had loved so much. I let my gaze linger over all oftheir faces, taking each one in. I gazed longest at Robin. I blew him a kissand jumped, just as the first chime of midnight split the night air. I heardyells from above as I plummeted. The last sound I heard was Robin's voice,"CRYSTALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!" I smiled. I had done my work. As I disappeared intothe fog below I felt a dull throb all over, then I felt no more
