For the rest of the classes I had to endure, Caden never showed up to witness the shame he had brought upon me. Fortunately, I made friends with someone who stuck around. Asher offered me and my bike a ride home in his Honda, and I didn't refuse. After all, the thought of facing anyone in town today or ever again makes me want to eat glass rather than deal with it.

Let's just say my stepbrother is always venomous, like a snake. Whenever you confront him, you either have to fight or run as fast as you can, because he's always ready to strike.

Summoning the best smile I could muster in my worst moment, I thanked Asher for his kindness when I was nothing but a laughing stock on campus.

Guiding my bike beside me, we made our way to the elevator and up to my floor. I feel anger, I feel grief. This place was supposed to be a fresh start for me-a place where I could be alone, go to school, and meet new people. But with Caden here, I feel trapped. It's like being confined in a cage, forced to endure endless pranks from years ago. Pranks that Caden orchestrated just to break down the walls I've built to protect myself from his torment.

You know, when you've had a terrible day like mine, you would usually run home seeking solace, right? Well, unfortunately, my home wasn't a place of solace. How could it be? My parents decided to make it hell for me, thinking I needed Caden's help with everything. If only they understood how desperately I want him out of my life. Sometimes, I feel like they're fully aware of everything, but they enjoy seeing me suffer. Broken and worthless.

Just ten feet from my front door, I could hear feminine moans and groans. I wished the floor would open up and swallow me whole. But this is also my home, so I have to stand my ground.

I flung open the door, and there was Caden-naked on the couch, receiving special attention from some blonde girl with smudged makeup. It was pathetic.

His eyes were closed, and his long lashes rested on his cheeks. He pretended not to notice me and continued enjoying the girl's company down south.

"Caden?" I managed to force the words out through my suddenly dry throat.

He deliberately ignored my presence, further infuriating me. He tightened his grip on her hair, guiding her mouth to his liking, muffling any sounds she might have wanted to make when she noticed me standing there with my deep blue eyes. I felt beyond foolish just standing there.

Alright, time to take action. I headed straight to my bedroom and grabbed my phone to call Dad. He picked up on the first ring. The man never lets me down.

"Hey, sweetheart, how was your day?" He sounded cheerful. Perfect time to play the sympathy card.

"Can we video chat?" I asked softly.

"Of course, is everything alright?" His concern was evident in his voice.

"I'd rather you see it for yourself." I played the victim, as usual, and hung up before emerging from my room to answer Dad's call on the flat screen.

This should be interesting...

Caden was too preoccupied to realize what was in front of him.

Well, well.

"What the hell, Caden?" Dad yelled in horror.

At first, Caden probably thought he was imagining his father's voice. He shook his head in denial, and then his eyes widened when he saw his father's disgusted expression.

He pushed the girl with the swollen lips away immediately.

"Dad?" Panic is an understatement. Confusion flashed across his face as he looked at the screen in front of him.
