CADEN

I am so excited about this. I can't believe Kane has such a good heart even though he went through prison," Mad said beside me.

"Mmm..." I mumbled, not wanting to talk about him.

Don't get me wrong. I am grateful he talked to the lieutenant and got me the freedom that I didn't deserve. Is just that I don't know how I should feel about him.

He was that man who ended the life of my sister. Then stopped my father from hitting me. He was that man I wanted to crush life for. The man I almost killed his daughter. Yet the man who sets me free with no single record of the violence I did.

Fuck, I am uncertain about all of this.

Granted! I feel gratified I was able to buckle up next to Mad, flying first class to New York.

But with every ticking second in the plane, it was like I was moving closer to my grave.

It was suffocating. Nerves racking. I was only doing it for Mad.

I couldn't stay away from her just like the past four years.

She made a foodgasm sound that snapped me out of my thoughts, and I couldn't help grinning like an idiot.

My eyes narrowed at her as she carefully examined the almost empty cup in her hands.

"Do you like the wine?" She inquired, her legs stretching out.

"It tastes so good." Very good. I've finished mine a long time ago.

About that, earlier after we got the tickets, we had believed it was a waste of money flying first class around the nation.

But as soon as the treatments began, we both knew we were never going to fly anything that's not first-class anymore.

Because all this? It was worth it.

Mad gulped down the last sip and turned to me with a cute pouting face.
"I want some more."

And that's what she will get. Fucking more.

Luckily, there was a stewardess serving that same wine to some older man with peppered gray hair and a boring tuxedo that suited his features, however.

"She wants more of that wine," I demanded.

Mad's eyes widened before she burst into adorable giggles.

I love her.

"Well, I am being served. She can wait." The elder man said from his seat.

Whoa! Whoa!

"Excuse me?" No one talks to me like that. "I will break your nose, old man. That you won't get how you're breathing through your asshole." I raised from my seat, attracting eyes over.

Fucking people who don't know how to mind their business.

Then those small soft hands came around my arms, pulling me back to the seat.

It was calming, it warms me up.
"Caden! I can wait!" She begged.

Irritated, I turned to her.
"Didn't you hear how he was talking to you?"

No one talks to her that way. Ever.

"I can wait!" She implored. Her gorgeous eyes pleading. I almost let it fool me until she went on and said: "Please, let's not create drama."

Oh, hell no!

Is that what she thinks is happening right here?

Flared-up nose, I began: "I am not the one creating the drama; he started it..."
